Job Summary
BMS Overseas is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Immigration Case Lawyer to handle and manage immigration cases, provide legal guidance to clients, and ensure that applications and case files are prepared accurately and in accordance with applicable immigration laws and regulations.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of immigration procedures, case preparation, legal documentation, and immigration policies for major destinations including Canada, Australia, the UK, the USA, New Zealand, Europe, and Schengen countries.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle and manage immigration cases from initial assessment through final outcome.
- Assess client profiles and provide appropriate legal and immigration guidance.
- Review client circumstances and determine suitable immigration pathways.
- Prepare, review, and organize immigration applications and supporting documentation.
- Conduct detailed legal and case research relating to immigration matters.
- Draft legal submissions, explanations, representations, affidavits, statements, and other case-related documents.
- Review application files to identify inconsistencies, missing documents, or potential concerns.
- Ensure applications comply with applicable immigration laws, regulations, policies, and procedural requirements.
- Handle complex cases, refusals, procedural issues, and other immigration-related matters.
- Communicate with clients regarding case requirements, progress, documentation, and next steps.
- Coordinate with counsellors, documentation staff, and filing teams to ensure timely case processing.
- Maintain accurate records and confidentiality of all client information and case documentation.
- Monitor application deadlines, procedural requirements, and case updates.
- Stay updated on changes in immigration laws, policies, visa regulations, and government/embassy guidelines.
- Provide professional and ethical legal advice while maintaining a high standard of client service.
- Represent or assist clients in immigration-related proceedings, appeals, or other legal matters where applicable.
Requirements
- LL.B. / Bachelor's degree in Law or equivalent legal qualification.
- Valid license/authorization to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction, where applicable.
- Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in immigration law or immigration case handling.
- Strong knowledge of immigration procedures, legal documentation, and case preparation.
- Experience handling immigration matters for Canada, Australia, the UK, the USA, New Zealand, Europe, and/or Schengen countries.
- Excellent legal research, drafting, analytical,
and documentation skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify potential case issues.
- Strong client-handling and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office, email, and online immigration/application systems.
Preferred Skills
- Experience handling complex immigration cases, refusals, appeals, or reconsideration matters.
- Strong understanding of immigration legislation, policies, and procedural requirements.
- Excellent legal drafting and case-analysis abilities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
