Job Description: Highway Engineer

We are looking for a Highway Engineer for road construction projects, mainly in hilly terrain. The candidate will be responsible for execution, supervision, planning, quality control coordination, and progress monitoring of highway works including hill cutting, road formation, embankment, subgrade, GSB, WMM, bituminous works, drains, protection works, and road safety works.

The candidate should have good practical knowledge of road construction activities and should be able to independently handle site execution as per approved drawings, levels, specifications, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute and supervise highway construction works in hilly terrain.
- Handle road formation, hill cutting, benching, widening, filling, subgrade, GSB, WMM, DBM, BC, and other pavement layers.
- Coordinate with survey team for alignment, levels, curves, gradients, camber, and setting out.
- Ensure proper drainage arrangements, including side drains, catch water drains, cross drains, culverts, and water disposal points.
- Coordinate with structural teams for retaining walls, breast walls, culverts, minor bridges, and slope protection works.
- Monitor machinery deployment, manpower, material availability, and daily work progress.
- Ensure work is carried out as per approved drawings, MORTH specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Check levels, layer thickness, compaction, line, grade, and workmanship at site.
- Coordinate with QA/QC team for field tests, material testing, compaction tests, and approvals.




- Prepare daily progress reports, site measurements, quantity records, and work planning reports.
- Identify site issues such as landslide-prone areas, water seepage, weak strata, slope instability, and difficult access, and report to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate with client/consultant representatives for inspection and approval of completed works.
- Ensure proper traffic management and safety during construction on narrow hill roads.

Required Qualification & Experience

- Diploma or B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
- Experience in highway, road, hill road, or infrastructure projects preferred.
- Positive knowledge of road construction methodology and MORTH specifications.
- Experience in hilly terrain road projects will be an added advantage.
- Ability to independently handle site execution and coordinate with survey, quality, mechanical, and structural teams.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
