About the project

VillaRaj is a private neoclassical residence under construction at Paldi, Ahmedabad. The design architect is Robert Adam Architects, London. The house is built in Gwalior Mint sandstone — roughly 12,000 cubic feet across domes, cornices, capitals, balustrades and ashlar walling.

Because the building is classical, the drawings are unusually demanding. Mouldings have profiles that must be drawn accurately, not approximated. Ashlar joints are set out course by course. Every carved element needs a template drawing the yard can work from. This is drafting where precision genuinely matters and the drawing is the instruction.

The role

You will produce the working drawings for the project, in-house, sitting beside the project architect. You take marked-up sketches, consultant inputs and design intent drawings and turn them into clean, dimensioned, buildable sheets — quickly and accurately.

Key responsibilities

- Produce architectural working drawings: plans, sections, elevations, details, at all scales up to full-size profiles
- Draw stone setting-out: course layouts, joint lines, bed and soffit details, dowel and anchor positions
- Produce full-size or 1:1 moulding profile templates for the carving yard
- Prepare shop-drawing-standard details for stone, joinery, metalwork and plaster
- Maintain drawing registers, title blocks, layer standards and revision control
- Update drawings quickly against site markups and consultant revisions
- Extract quantities and dimensions from drawings to support BOQ preparation




- Keep the drawing archive organised so any sheet, in any revision, can be found in under a minute

Requirements

- Diploma in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or ITI Draughtsman (Civil), or equivalent proven experience
- 4–12 years producing construction drawings in an architectural or facade/stone environment
- Robust AutoCAD skills — layer discipline, xrefs, blocks, sheet set management, accurate plotting
- Ability to draft to a accurate dimension and hold tolerances; no approximation of geometry
- Able to read structural and MEP drawings well enough to spot conflicts with the architecture
- Neat, disciplined, methodical; understands that a drawing is a legal instruction to a contractor

What will set a candidate apart

- Experience drafting classical mouldings, cornices, columns or arches
- Prior work in stone — a stone fabricator's drawing office, a facade contractor, temple or heritage restoration work
- Ability to draw geometry by construction (entasis, volutes, ellipses, groin and dome intersections) rather than by copying blocks
- Working Revit or SketchUp ability alongside AutoCAD
- Hand drafting or hand sketching ability
