Duration: Long Term

Work Preference: Onsite

Work Location: Pune, MH

Note: Immediate to 30 Days Joiners are Preferred

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on NPD & VAVE Mechanical Engineer, with 7-10 years of experience, to develop new products and implement value-engineering, redesign, and lifecycle improvements across fire suppression and nitrogen-generation products. The role combines mechanical system engineering for compressors, pneumatic and pressure circuits, tanks, membranes, filters, regulators, valves, tubing, and manifolds with detailed product design for sheet-metal enclosures, skids, brackets, mounting, vibration isolation, service access, and product integration. The candidate must be able to translate requirements into concepts, calculations, SolidWorks models, production drawings, BOMs, prototypes, verification evidence, and controlled engineering releases. Demonstrated hands-on contribution to both NPD and implemented VAVE or cost-reduction programs is required; this is not a teardown-only, costing-only, orCAD-documentation-only role.

Key Responsibilities

Value Engineering & Cost-Down Execution

• Perform product teardown, functional decomposition, BOM/material analysis, benchmarking, and function-cost assessment, translate findings into NPD requirements and redesign opportunities.

• Identify opportunities for part-count reduction, common components, alternate materials, simplified interfaces, target-cost achievement, platform reuse, and model-variant rationalization.

• Develop VAVE and NPD concepts into complete mechanical designs, calculations, CAD models, prototypes, cost estimates, BOM and drawing updates, and release-ready engineering changes.

• Ensure that new and redesigned products improve total value without compromising safety, performance, reliability, serviceability, installation, manufacturability, or compliance.

Pneumatic, Compressor & Pressure-System Engineering

• Translate product requirements into pneumatic and mechanical architectures and analyse compressor packages, air and nitrogen flow paths, membrane interfaces, water separators, filters,

regulators, back-pressure regulators, solenoid valves, check valves, relief valves, gauges, pressure switches, drains, and unloaders.

• Design and optimize tubing, hoses, NPT or equivalent fittings, manifolds, seals, receiver tanks, storage tanks, and Air Maintenance Device interfaces for new and existing products.

• Perform engineering calculations for flow, pressure drop, fill time, compressor duty cycle, leakage, loads, forces, thermal effects, vibration, structural integrity, and safety margins as applicable.

• Select and technically qualify compressors, valves, regulators, filters, fittings, tanks, and other mechanical or electromechanical components for NPD, redesign, and VAVE programs.

Mechanical Product Design, Packaging & DFMA

• Develop and optimize sheet-metal cabinets, doors, frames, brackets, compressor and tank mounts, vibration isolators, guards, handles, and service-access features for new products.

• Create SolidWorks 3D parts and assemblies, layouts, detailed drawings, GD&T;, tolerance stacks, material specifications, finish requirements, critical characteristics, and mechanical BOMs.

• Apply DFM and DFA from concept stage through release to reduce fabrication steps, welding, machining, fasteners, assembly time, handling, tooling, inspection, rework, and installation effort.

• Drive modularity and standardize cabinet, skid, bracket, mounting, fitting, fastener, and tank accessory architectures across representative product platforms.

• Own prototype fabrication, fitment checks, assembly trials, design reviews, root-cause analysis, design iterations, corrective actions, and engineering-release updates.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Implementation

• Own mechanical work packages on NPD, redesign, sustenance, and VAVE programs while working closely with the Senior Engineer, Electrical, Firmware, Validation, lab, and US stakeholders.

• Define interfaces among compressor and motor packages, control panels, sensors, solenoid valves, controller enclosures, wiring, tanks, tubing, installation hardware, and field connections.

• Release requirements, CAD models, drawings, BOMs, specifications, assembly requirements, test criteria, and ECO/ECN documentation through controlled PDM/PLM processes.

• Provide technical support to US Supply Chain for supplier reviews, RFQs, component and process qualification, tooling, production trials, new-product launch, and VAVE implementation.

Quantitative Analysis & Business-Case Development

• Build target-cost and fact-based cost breakdowns covering material, fabrication, machining, welding, coating, purchased components, tooling, assembly labor, test, packaging, installation, warranty, and lifecycle impact.

• Prepare concept and design trade-offs, feasibility assessments, target-cost analysis, ROI, payback, implementation effort, and risk inputs for NPD architecture and VAVE decisions.

• Track NPD product cost against target and projected versus implemented VAVE savings, and support validation of recurring benefits with US Finance and Supply Chain.

Validation, Compliance & Risk Management

• Prepare mechanical and pneumatic requirements, DFMEA, design reviews, verification plans, tolerance analyses, and risk assessments for new and modified designs.

• Plan and support DVP&R; covering dimensional and functional performance, pressure and leak integrity, flow, nitrogen purity, fill time, compressor duty cycle, temperature, vibration, acoustics, endurance, transport, installation, and serviceability.

• Assess impact on applicable UL, FM, NFPA, IEC, pressure-system, pressure-vessel,

and regional tank-certification requirements and provide technical evidence to the Compliance team.

Sustenance & Lifecycle Optimization

• Use field-return, warranty, service, production, and maintenance data to identify reliability, costof-quality, serviceability, and next-generation product improvements.

• Resolve component obsolescence, availability, quality, and supplier-process risks through technically validated alternatives and design changes.

• Create reusable mechanical standards, preferred component and material strategies, common CAD models and drawings, design guidelines, test methods, VAVE practices, and lessons learned.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of mechanical product-design experience with demonstrated hands-on responsibility in both NPD and VAVE or cost-reduction programs for industrial or electromechanical products.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Demonstrated end-to-end contribution from requirements and concept development through detailed CAD design, prototype, verification, drawing/BOM release, and production support,

including implementation of measurable mechanical cost reductions.

• Practical experience with compressors, pneumatic systems, pressure vessels, valves, regulators, filters, tubing, fittings, manifolds, seals, and related electromechanical components.

• Strong experience in sheet-metal product design, skids, enclosures, brackets, mounts, vibration isolation, material selection, GD&T;, tolerance analysis, and industrial equipment packaging.

• Strong hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D part and assembly modelling, configurations, sheet metal, routing, and detailed manufacturing drawings, with ownership of mechanical BOMs.

• Solid working knowledge of the NPD lifecycle and VAVE methods, including requirements, architecture, product teardown, FAST or function analysis, benchmarking, design-to-cost, should

costing, material and process substitution, commonization, and platform strategy.

• Practical knowledge of DFM, DFA, DFMEA, DVP&R;, root-cause analysis, tolerance stacks, supplier process capability, PDM/PLM, configuration control, and engineering change release.

• Ability to evaluate target cost and material, tooling, fabrication, assembly, test, packaging, installation, maintenance, warranty, service, and lifecycle cost impacts.

• Strong hands-on capability with physical teardown, prototypes, measurement, fitment, assembly trials, laboratory test setups, failure analysis, design troubleshooting, and corrective action.

• Ownership mindset and willingness to develop deep product knowledge of the assigned suppression and nitrogen-generator platforms and contribute to both NPD and VAVE roadmaps.

• Willingness to travel periodically to locations, suppliers, manufacturing sites, and test laboratories as required.
