Job Description – Electrical Cum Instrumentation Site Engineer
Greenfield Bio-CNG / CBG Project
Experience: 3–5 Years
Qualification: B.E./B.Tech./Diploma – Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering
Position: Electrical Cum Instrumentation Site Engineer
Location: Project Site / Multiple Project Sites
Job Objective
To monitor and control Electrical & Instrumentation site execution activities for Greenfield Bio-CNG
projects, ensuring timely completion as per approved drawings, specifications, quality standards,
safety requirements and project schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Site Execution
• Monitor day-to-day electrical installation and execution activities.
• Supervise installation of HT/LT systems, transformers, HT yard, VCBs, LT panels, MCC/PCC
panels, cables, cable trays, earthing, lighting and electrical equipment.
• Monitor cable laying, termination, glanding and dressing.
• Ensure proper installation of electrical equipment as per approved drawings and
specifications.
• Coordinate electrical testing including insulation resistance, continuity, earthing and other
applicable tests.
• Monitor electrical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
Instrumentation & Automation
• Monitor installation of field instruments, control valves, junction boxes, instrument cables,
cable trays and local control panels.
• Coordinate installation and testing of PLC, SCADA, control panels and automation systems.
• Ensure proper instrument mounting, tubing, cabling, termination and calibration.
• Coordinate with automation vendors/OEMs for testing and commissioning.
• Monitor loop checking, calibration and functional testing.
• Maintain instrumentation completion and commissioning records.
EPC Contractor & Vendor Coordination
• Coordinate with EPC contractor, electrical/instrumentation subcontractors, vendors and
OEMs.
• Monitor manpower, materials, tools and equipment deployed at site.
• Review daily work plans and ensure activities are completed as per schedule.
• Follow up on drawings, material approvals, inspections and technical clarifications.
• Identify execution constraints and coordinate for timely resolution.
Progress Monitoring & Reporting
• Prepare Weekly Progress Reports (WPR) and Monthly Progress Reports (MPR).
• Track planned vs. actual Electrical & Instrumentation progress.
• Maintain cable, equipment, instrument, material and activity trackers.
• Maintain testing, commissioning and punch-point trackers.
• Record site progress with photographs.
• Highlight delays, critical activities and recovery plans to the Project Manager.
Quality & Inspection
• Ensure execution complies with approved drawings, specifications and applicable standards.
• Coordinate inspections with QA/QC, TPI, consultants and OEMs.
• Verify electrical and instrumentation materials against approved specifications.
• Ensure proper material storage, identification and traceability.
• Monitor closure of NCRs,
observations and punch points.
Quantity & Documentation
• Verify executed quantities against BOQ and drawings.
• Support measurement and verification of contractor bills.
• Maintain cable schedules, equipment lists, instrument lists and testing records.
• Maintain inspection reports, test certificates and commissioning documentation.
Safety
• Ensure compliance with electrical and site HSE requirements.
• Monitor electrical isolation, LOTO, work permits and safe working practices.
• Ensure proper PPE and secure practices during cable work, HT/LT work and testing.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions and ensure corrective actions.
Required Skills
• Strong hands-on experience in Electrical & Instrumentation site execution.
• Good knowledge of 33kv HT/LT 1600 kva electrical systems and industrial instrumentation.
• Ability to read SLD, electrical layouts, cable schedules, instrument index, P&IDs; and wiring
diagrams.
• Knowledge of PLC/SCADA and industrial automation systems.
• Good understanding of testing and commissioning procedures.
• Good knowledge of BOQ, quantity tracking and project schedules.
• Strong contractor/vendor coordination and follow-up skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Office and project reporting.
Preferred Experience
Experience in Bio-CNG/CBG, biogas, process plants, chemical plants, food processing, EPC or other
industrial projects will be preferred.
The candidate should be willing to work at project sites and relocate to other project locations after
completion and commissioning of the initial project.
