Position Summary
At HUFT, every piece of communication has one job: to make a pet parent feel like them and their pet belongs here. That they are known, understood, and cared for, exactly as they are. Whether that's four honest lines on a treat box or a festive campaign film, the feeling has to be the same. That's this job.
We're looking for a copywriter who understands animals, their moods, their quirks, and the deep bond people share with them, and who can turn that understanding into writing that makes a pet parent feel how we genuinely care. This is a creative, community-driven role at heart. You won't just be executing briefs, you'll be helping build a culture and a voice, owning ideas from spark to shelf, and shaping how an entire community of pet parents, feeders and animal lovers experiences our brand.
You'll write for every place a pet parent meets us: offline retail, print, packaging, in-store, and online across web, app and digital stores. One day it's a headline that stops the scroll. Next, it's four honest lines on a treat box that make someone trust what's inside it for their own pet.
If you've ever paused mid-scroll because something about an animal got you right in the chest, or written a line that made people stop and actually feel something, that's the instinct we're looking for. We're hiring for the feeling, and the drive to build something that lasts.
Responsibilities
- Write copy that starts with the customer, what a pet parent is feeling, worried about, or excited for, not just what we want to say.
- Write across every format: packaging, in-store displays, product launches, ads, video scripts, blogs,
digital and print.
- Write headlines, taglines and lines that people actually remember.
- Turn briefs into copy that feels alive, on-brand, and never generic.
- Take ownership of ideas end to end, from the first spark to the final line on shelf or screen.
- Work closely with designers, brand managers, visual teams and fellow writers so words and visuals feel like one idea.
- Handle a few projects at once without letting the quality drop.
- Stay curious about pet culture, community stories, and what's trending in pet care.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- 2 to 5 years of writing experience, and a portfolio that shows you can write both short and long, and write both well.
- A sharp eye for editing and proofreading.
- Real storytelling instinct, the kind that finds the emotional heart of a brief.
- Comfort switching tones, a witty Instagram caption in the morning, a warm brand film script by the afternoon.
- The ability to stay calm and write well even when timelines are tight.
- A cooperative spirit. The best lines here rarely come from just one person.
- A builder's mindset, someone who takes ownership of their work and wants to shape culture, not just fill briefs.
- Genuine compassion for animals and the people who love them.
- Pet parents preferred, but what matters most is empathy for the bond between animals and people.
You'll feel right at home here if you believe the best pet copy sounds like it's written by a fellow pet parent, not a brand, and if you'd rather earn an emotion with one true detail than chase it with ten adjectives.
