Level Designer (Game Development) – Remote Unpaid Volunteer / Internship

WorkshopEdge is looking for a **Level Designer** to join our remote game development team on an unpaid volunteer or internship basis.

You will work on the design of levels for our upcoming Egyptian action game, with a strong focus on exploration, environmental storytelling, traversal, and large-scale environmental puzzles.
Key Responsibilities

* Design and develop playable game levels and environments.

* Create **large-scale environmental puzzles** involving architecture, mechanisms, traversal, exploration,



and environmental interactions.

* Design player routes, exploration paths, progression, shortcuts, secrets, and points of interest.

* Create level layouts, top-down maps, flow diagrams, and level concepts before implementation.

* Build **greybox/blockout levels in Unreal Engine** using simple geometry and placeholder assets.

* Test and iterate on level layouts to improve gameplay flow, pacing, exploration, and player experience.

* Design puzzles that naturally fit into the environment rather than feeling like separate puzzle rooms.

* Plan how combat, exploration, traversal, puzzles, checkpoints, rewards, and environmental storytelling work together.

* Create interesting moments where the player changes or interacts with large parts of the setting.

* Collaborate with environment artists, 3D artists, gameplay programmers, animators, and other members of the developmen
