The Role

You'll own the hands-on build, iteration, and precision assembly of our engineering model, a high-speed (10,000–16,000 RPM) motor for satellite reaction wheels and CMGs. This is a build-test-rebuild role: you'll personally assemble prototypes, dynamically balance rotors, run and support environmental validation (shock, vibration, thermal, EMI/EMC), diagnose fit and performance issues, and iterate fast through multiple engineering model builds before we move toward flight-model AIT.

What You Will Do
- Personally assemble and dynamically balance high-speed rotor assemblies (target balance grades to be defined per build)
- Select, install, and diagnose bearing performance for continuously rotating shaft assemblies
- Build and iterate custom assembly fixtures and jigs as the design evolves through engineering model cycles
- Diagnose vibration, fit, and tolerance issues through hands-on troubleshooting, visual inspection, root-cause analysis, and rework
- Plan and support environmental validation of prototype builds, shock testing, vibration (sine/random), thermal cycling, and EMI/EMC characterization, working with test facilities or in-house equipment as available
- Correlate environmental test results against expected performance and feed discrepancies back into the design and assembly process
