The Workday Architect will be responsible for the end-to-end architecture, design, and governance of the Workday ecosystem, ensuring scalable, secure, and compliant HR and enterprise solutions. This role will drive solution design across Workday modules, integrations, reporting, and data architecture while aligning with global HR processes and regional compliance requirements.
Architecture & Solution Design
- Define and own end-to-end Workday architecture (Core HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Learning, etc.)
- Design scalable and future-ready solutions spanning:
- Core HR, Talent, Compensation, Absence, Payroll integrations
- Reporting, analytics, and dashboards
- Establish design principles, standards, and reusable frameworks for Workday implementation
- Review and approve functional and technical designs across projects
Integration & Data Architecture
- Architect integrations across enterprise systems, including:
- Payroll, Finance, 3rd party vendor systems
- Define and govern:
- Data flows, transformation rules, and integration patterns
- Middleware and API-based integrations
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across systems
Workday Configuration & Modules Oversight
- Provide architectural oversight for:
- Business processes and workflows
- Security model and role-based access
- Ensure optimal configuration of:
- Job architecture, organizational hierarchy, and reporting structures
- Drive standardization and minimize customizations
Governance, Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Establish governance frameworks including:
- Design reviews, solution approvals, and release controls
- Ensure compliance with:
- Global HR policies and local regulatory requirements (e.g., India-specific compliance)
- Define:
- Audit mechanisms, documentation standards, and solution traceability
Stakeholder & Program Leadership
- Act as a trusted advisor to business and IT leadership
- Collaborate with:
- HR, Payroll, Finance, Security, and Integration teams
- Lead architecture discussions in:
- Solution workshops, design reviews, and steering committees
- Provide guidance to functional and technical Workday teams
Program Support (Implementation & AMS)
- Support:
- Workday implementation, transformation programs, and AMS delivery
- Review deliverables from system integrators and vendors
- Drive:
- Continuous improvement and optimization initiatives
Required Skills & Experience Functional & Technical Expertise
- 12–15 years of experience in HRIS / enterprise applications
- 5+ years of deep experience in Workday architecture
- Solid experience across:
- Workday HCM modules (Core, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Learning)
- Integrations (EIB, Workday Studio, APIs)
- Reporting (Advanced Reports, Prism, dashboards)
Architecture & Design
- Proven experience in:
- Enterprise architecture design
- Integration patterns and middleware architecture
- Strong understanding of:
- Data modeling, governance, and security frameworks
Domain Knowledge
- Strong HR domain understanding:
- Employee lifecycle, talent management, compensation structures
- Exposure to:
- Global and region-specific HR compliance
Leadership & Governance
- Experience leading:
- Large-scale Workday implementations or transformations
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to define:
- RACI models, governance frameworks, and review processes
