Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill infants and children according to hospital policies and clinical protocols.
- Perform and document initial and ongoing patient assessments, including vital signs, neurological status, respiratory status, pain, fluid balance, and other relevant parameters.
- Continuously monitor patients and promptly identify and report any deterioration in clinical condition.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and other prescribed treatments safely and accurately.
- Assist doctors during procedures, emergencies, resuscitation, and other critical interventions.
- Manage and monitor pediatric patients requiring oxygen therapy, ventilatory support, and other intensive-care interventions as per competency and hospital protocol.
- Maintain and monitor IV lines, central lines, arterial lines, urinary catheters, drains, and other invasive devices as applicable.
- Maintain accurate nursing records, medication charts, fluid balance, observation charts, and electronic/physical medical records.
- Follow medication-safety practices, including correct patient identification, dose, route, timing, and documentation.
- Follow strict infection-prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene, aseptic technique, isolation precautions, and proper biomedical waste disposal.
- Support nutritional care, feeding, and fluid management as prescribed.
- Provide age-appropriate comfort measures and psychological support to children and their families.
- Educate and counsel parents/caregivers regarding the child's condition, treatment, procedures, and discharge-related care as appropriate.
- Ensure proper handover of patient information during shift changes using an appropriate communication method.
- Check emergency equipment, medications, monitors, oxygen supply, and other PICU equipment and report deficiencies promptly.
- Participate in code blue/emergency response and maintain readiness for pediatric resuscitation.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies, professional standards, and legal requirements.
- Participate in quality-improvement activities, audits, training programs, and continuing nursing education.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized PICU setting.
- Perform any other nursing duties assigned by the Nursing In-charge or authorized clinical supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the relevant State Nursing Council.
- Previous experience in PICU, pediatric ICU, NICU, emergency, or pediatric nursing is preferred.
- BLS certification is required/preferred; PALS certification is an advantage.

Experience Freshers: May be considered depending on hospital requirements and training capacity.
Experienced candidates: PICU/Pediatric ICU experience preferred.
