Role & responsibilities

Azad Engineering Limited is looking for an experienced Vigilance & Safety Compliance Officer to ensure strict adherence to the Company's Safety Protocols, EHS requirements, SOPs, Factory Rules and established safety practices across manufacturing plants and new plant construction/project sites.

The ideal candidate should preferably have a Defence / Military / Armed Forces background with strong experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defence or engineering environments.

The incumbent will be responsible for proactively identifying safety violations and unsafe practices, ensuring timely escalation and corrective action, and maintaining a strong culture of Safety, Discipline, Accountability and Compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Vigilance & Compliance Primary Responsibility

- Ensure strict compliance with Azad Engineering's Safety Protocols, EHS requirements, SOPs and work instructions.
- Conduct regular and surprise safety inspections across production, maintenance, warehouse, utilities and other plant areas.
- Identify and report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and safety violations.
- Ensure compliance with PPE, machine safety, LOTO, electrical safety, work-at-height, hot work, confined space, lifting, material handling, forklift/vehicle safety, fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Ensure employees and contract workmen do not bypass established safety procedures.
- Immediately escalate critical/life-threatening safety violations to EHS/Plant Head/Management.
- Monitor corrective and preventive actions and ensure timely closure.
- Identify repeated safety violations and escalate for appropriate corrective/disciplinary action as per Management guidelines.
- Maintain records of safety observations, violations, repeat deviations and corrective actions.

Employee Safety Discipline

- Promote a strong Safety First / Zero Tolerance culture.
- Monitor adherence to safety instructions across all levels.
- Identify repeated safety violations by employees and contract workers.
- Document and escalate violations to HR/EHS/Department Heads.
- Support implementation of corrective and disciplinary actions as authorised by Management.
- Ensure safety compliance is maintained consistently and not only during audits.

Current Plant / Construction Safety

- Ensure compliance with Azad Engineering's construction safety protocols at new plant/project sites.
- Monitor safety compliance of civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, MEP and other contractors/sub-contractors.
- Conduct regular and surprise inspections at construction sites.
- Ensure compliance with work-at-height, scaffolding, excavation, electrical, lifting/crane operations, hot work, confined space, vehicle movement, barricading, fire safety and PPE requirements.




- Verify contractor safety induction, training and authorisation before commencement of work.
- Monitor Work Permits, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Toolbox Talks and Safety Checklists.
- Identify and escalate critical contractor safety violations.
- Recommend stoppage/escalation of unsafe work wherever authorised.
- Monitor closure of construction safety observations and repeated contractor violations.
- Coordinate with Projects, Engineering, EHS, HR and contractors to improve construction safety standards.

Incident Investigation & Vigilance

- Support investigation of safety incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, property damage, theft and other violations.
- Conduct preliminary fact-finding and collect relevant information.
- Review CCTV footage, access records, photographs and documents where authorised.
- Prepare factual reports and recommendations for Management.
- Monitor corrective and preventive actions arising from investigations.

Factory & Statutory Compliance

- Maintain sound knowledge of Factories Rules, OSH requirements, industrial safety regulations and statutory compliance.
- Conduct periodic compliance checks in coordination with EHS/HR.
- Support internal, customer and statutory audits.
- Identify compliance gaps and monitor closure.

ISO / Management Systems

- Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
- Monitor adherence to documented procedures and work instructions.
- Support internal audits and corrective action closure.

Security & Vigilance

- Conduct surprise vigilance checks across plants and project sites.
- Monitor unauthorised access to critical/restricted areas.
- Support prevention and investigation of theft, pilferage and unauthorised material movement.
- Coordinate with Security teams and review CCTV/access records where required.

Contractor & Vendor Compliance

- Monitor safety and compliance of contractors/sub-contractors.
- Ensure contractor personnel receive required safety induction and training.
- Monitor PPE, work permits, risk assessments and safety procedures.
- Identify and escalate repeated contractor non-compliance.
- Support contractor safety performance evaluation.

Administration & Facilities

- Monitor compliance relating to housekeeping, canteen, transport, parking, security, facility management and other outsourced services.
- Conduct periodic inspections and report deviations.




- Follow up on corrective actions with concerned departments/vendors.

Preferred candidate profile

Mandatory / Preferred Requirements

- Defence / Military / Armed Forces / Paramilitary background preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, aerospace, defence, engineering or industrial environment.
- Experience in industrial safety, vigilance, compliance, security or plant administration.
- Strong knowledge of Safety Protocols, EHS practices and Factory Rules.
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.
- Experience in construction/project safety will be an advantage.
- Experience in managing/monitoring contractor safety compliance preferred.
- Valuable knowledge of MS Office, Excel and report preparation.

Any violation or unsafe practice must be promptly identified, documented, escalated and followed through for corrective action in accordance with Management's guidelines.
