We are seeking a creative and skilled ‘Video Editor’ to join our agile team at SFLC.in, an organisation dedicated to advocating for digital rights and freedom of expression.
As a video editor, you will play a key role in creating compelling videos that communicate our mission, campaigns, and research to a global audience. We want someone who thinks creatively on the spot, brings fresh visual ideas, and understands branding, storytelling, and effective communication.
This role offers an opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of lawyers, policy experts, and technologists. The intern will gain hands-on experience in translating complex issues around digital rights into accessible and engaging public communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the team to identify stories, campaigns, research, legal developments, events, and emerging issues that can be translated into compelling video content.
- Develop story structures, scripts, and narratives in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Create videos for events, webinars, and educational materials that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Create both short-form and long-form content, adapting the narrative and editing style to the intended platform and audience.
- Use motion graphics, animation, typography, illustrations, infographics, screen recordings, archival material, and other visual elements to strengthen storytelling.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Job Qualifications & Skills:
- 1+ years of proven experience as a video editor with a strong portfolio.
- Proficiency in professional video editing software. Experience with motion graphics, animation, or visual effects is a plus.
- Experience with videography and audio recording is a plus.
- Experience creating content specifically for Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, or other digital platforms.
- Experience creating explainers, educational content, or research-driven visual communication.
- Strong understanding of visual storytelling, editing principles and narrative structure.
- Ability to make complex information clear, engaging, and accessible.
- Positive written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Experience working with nonprofits, civil society organisations, advocacy campaigns, journalism, or public-interest organisations.
- Familiarity with issues relating to digital rights, technology, internet governance, privacy, freedom of expression, human rights, or social justice.
