Pinaka is a school operating system for Indian schools. One product, six different people using it: the office clerk, the principal, the teacher, the parent, the student, and the school's own public page. It is live in production today, and our first pilot school is onboarding now.
We are hiring one design and UX intern.
The unusual part
You will not hand a Figma file to an engineer and wait. You will design a screen, then build it yourself, working with AI coding tools the way the rest of us do. We will teach you the code side from zero. What we cannot teach in three months is taste and design judgment, so that is the only thing we screen for.
This is how the whole team works. If you want to see what AI-assisted product building actually looks like from the inside, and not from a thread you read online, this is that.
What you will do
- Design real screens that real schools use. Not exercises.
- Build those screens in our design system, with AI doing the typing and you doing the thinking.
- Sit in reviews where work gets pulled apart against a written quality bar.
- Watch actual users: office staff, teachers, parents. Feed what you learn back into the design.
Who this is for
- Final year student or recent graduate. Any discipline.
- A portfolio of interface work: screens, flows, systems. Not only posters and logos.
- You can explain why a layout works,
not just that it looks good. We will ask.
- You notice spacing, hierarchy and alignment without being told to.
- Reliable Figma hours.
- Written English strong enough to argue a point in one paragraph.
Who this is not for
- Anyone who needs the brief fully spelled out before starting.
- Anyone who wants to design and never touch the build.
Terms, stated plainly
- Remote, anywhere in India.
- Part time. 20 to 25 hours a week, fixed hours agreed with you.
- Three months.
- This internship is unpaid. We are early and small. What you get instead: real users, shipped product work in your portfolio, and hands-on training in AI-assisted building. If that trade does not work for you, we understand.
- Do well and a paid full time role MAY follow. That is the point of the three months, for both sides.
How to apply
Email
[email protected] with three things:
1. Your portfolio. Link or PDF.
2. This exercise, capped at three hours. A parent opens our mobile app once a week to answer one question: how is my child doing? Design that one screen. Send one image or a Figma link, plus under 200 words on what you left out and why. We will not use your submission in the product. It exists so we can see how you think.
3. One line on when you can start.
No cover letter. We read the work.
