: Plant Head – Used Oil Refinery, Group I RRBO
Position Title: Plant Head – Used Oil Refinery, Group I RRBO
Department: Used Oil Processing – Circular Economy Solutions.
Reports To: Head – ULO (Processing)
Location: Ahilya Nagar, Maharashtra
Position SummaryThe Plant Head will be responsible for the end-to-end operations of the Used Oil refinery, producing Group I RRBO. The role owns feedstock procurement planning, plant production and quality performance, asset optimization, team leadership, and customer-oriented delivery — ensuring the plant consistently operates at optimum capacity while meeting Group I RRBO product specifications, safety, and environmental compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities1. Feedstock Procurement
- Source 100% Used Oil supplies through Used Oil Collection & Aggregation team
- Ensure feedstock quality screening (contamination, water content, grade) prior to intake to safeguard process efficiency
- Provide regular forecast/plan for Used Oil feedstock requirements to Used Oil Collection & Aggregation team based on production plans and optimization of Used Oil feedstock holding with a view to avoid shortages or excess inventory
- Provide inputs to the Used Oil Collection & Aggregation team on feedstock pricing, contracts, and inventory levels
2. Production & Process Operations
- Own end-to-end plant operations — pre-treatment, dehydration, vacuum distillation, and re-refining processes for Used Oil
- Ensure production output (RRBO) meets Group I base oil specifications (viscosity index, sulphur content, saturates, color, etc.) consistently.
- Monitor and optimize process parameters (temperature, pressure, vacuum levels) for maximum yield and product quality of RRBO.
- Drive process troubleshooting and technical problem-solving to minimize downtime and off-spec production.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and plan capacity utilization in line with business/sales requirements.
3. Technical & Process Knowledge
- Possess strong technical understanding of Used Oil refining/re-refining technology, distillation, and Group I base oil processing.
- Identify Critical-to-Success (CTS) parameters across the process — feedstock quality, process yield, energy consumption, and product specification adherence — and build control mechanisms around them.
- Stay current with re-refining technology upgrades and drive continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Lead root-cause analysis of quality deviations, equipment failures, and yield losses; implement corrective and preventive actions.
4. Asset Optimization & Maintenance
- Ensure optimum utilization of plant assets — maximize uptime, throughput, and equipment reliability.
- Drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Monitor asset performance (OEE, downtime, MTBF/MTTR) and lead initiatives to improve asset efficiency and life cycle.
- Plan and control capex/repair budgets for plant machinery, equipment upgrades, and de-bottlenecking projects.
5. Quality Control
- Ensure robust quality control systems are in place across the process — from feedstock intake to finished product dispatch.
- Ensure RRBO consistently meets Group I standards and customer-specific requirements.
- Coordinate with the QA/QC laboratory for in-process testing, batch release, and non-conformance management.
- Drive quality certifications and compliance with applicable industry standards.
- Actively support Used Oil Collection & Aggregation team for RRBO sales to customers including providing products samples, test reports, plant visits and other approval-related activities
6. Team Building & Leadership
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing plant team across production, maintenance, quality, and utilities.
- Drive a culture of ownership, safety, and continuous improvement among plant personnel.
- Plan manpower requirements, training, and skill development for operators and technical staff.
- Set clear KPIs for team members and conduct regular performance reviews.
7. Customer Orientation
- Ensure production planning aligns with customer requirements and committed delivery timelines.
- Work closely with sales/commercial teams to understand customer quality expectations and market feedback.
- Drive timely resolution of customer quality complaints through root-cause analysis and corrective action.
- Build a customer-first mindset within the plant team to support business growth and retention.
8. Safety, Health, Workplace & Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with statutory, environmental (Pollution Control Board), and safety regulations applicable to ULO refining.
- Drive process safety management and ensure zero-incident plant operations.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous by-products/sludge as per regulatory norms.
- Lead safety audits, risk assessments, and statutory inspections/liaison with regulatory authorities.
