Job Opening: Underwriting Specialist – General Insurance (Non-EB)

We are looking for a detail-oriented Underwriting Specialist to join our team of passionate and high-performing professionals. You will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting non-EB general insurance products such as Fire, Property, Marine, Engineering, Liability, and Motor, assessing risk exposure, and recommending appropriate coverage and pricing to clients.

The chosen candidate will be analytical, process-driven, and possess working knowledge of general insurance underwriting practices, policy wordings, and regulatory guidelines, while maintaining a strong client-service orientation.

Responsibilities

● Evaluate and underwrite non-EB general insurance proposals (Fire, Property, Marine, Engineering, Liability, Motor, etc.)

● Assess risk profiles, site/property details, and loss history to determine insurability and pricing

● Liaise with insurers to negotiate terms, coverage, and premiums on behalf of clients

● Prepare and review policy documents, endorsements, and renewals for accuracy





● Coordinate with sales/relationship teams to structure suitable coverage for clients

● Ensure compliance with IRDAI guidelines and internal underwriting norms

● Maintain underwriting records and support audits/reporting as needed

● Stay updated on market trends, product changes, and regulatory updates in general insurance

Requirements

● Graduation (any field); insurance-related certification (Licentiate/Associate from Insurance Institute of India) preferred

● 1–2 years of experience in underwriting or risk assessment for non-EB general insurance lines (Fire, Property, Marine, Engineering, Liability, etc.)

● Good understanding of underwriting principles, policy wordings, and risk assessment techniques

● Solid analytical and MS Excel skills

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with insurers and clients

● Prior experience with a broking house or general insurer preferred

Pay: ₹700,000.00 - ₹1,500,000.00 per year
