Role Description The Tool Room – VMC Setter is a full-time, on-site role based in Chengalpattu. This role is responsible for setting up and operating VMC machines, preparing tools and fixtures, and ensuring machining parameters are optimized for quality and efficiency.

Daily activities include interpreting engineering drawings, loading and adjusting tools, performing trial runs,



and monitoring machining operations to meet dimensional and surface finish requirements. The role involves routine inspection of components, basic troubleshooting of machine and tooling issues, and coordination with production and quality teams to maintain smooth workflow.

The Tool

Room – VMC Setter also supports maintenance of tool inventories, adheres to safety and quality standards, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives in the machining and tool room areas.

Qualifications

- Strong machining skills, including experience with VMC setup, tooling, offsets, and interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Ability to perform troubleshooting on VMC machines and tooling to resolve dimensional, surface finish, and process issues.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with production, quality, and maintenance teams and reporting issues clearly.
- Experience in training or mentoring team members on protected and efficient machine operation and basic tooling practices.
- Basic project management abilities to plan setups, prioritize jobs, and meet production schedules and quality requirements.
- Knowledge of CNC machining principles, cutting parameters, and tool selection; familiarity with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Understanding of safety practices, 5S, and quality systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Diploma / ITI in Mechanical, Tool & Die, or a related discipline, with prior experience in a VMC Setter or similar role in machining/tool room operations.
