About The Role Role: Technical Lead - Data & AI Function: IT – Strategy, Digital & AI

Role Level: Manager

Experience: 5–7 years

Role Overview

We are looking for a technically robust and delivery-oriented Manager for the IT Data & AI team who can own end-to-end API development, cloud-enabled application integration, infrastructure coordination, and application governance. The ideal candidate should be hands-on with modern technology stacks while also being capable of managing internal teams, vendor-driven applications, security tracks, and operational uptime for business-critical platforms.

This role requires a balanced mix of technical depth, team leadership, vendor governance, cloud exposure, and production operations discipline. The candidate should be able to design, build, govern, monitor, and continuously improve APIs and related systems across multiple technologies while ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities API Development & Integration Ownership

- Own end-to-end API development lifecycle including requirement understanding, solution design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, versioning,



and production support.
- Design and develop secure, scalable, and high-performance APIs across different technology stacks, including RESTful APIs, microservices, and integration services.
- Define API standards, reusable templates, naming conventions, authentication mechanisms, logging practices, and documentation norms.
- Work closely with business teams, data engineering teams, application teams, and external partners to enable seamless system-to-system integrations.
- Ensure APIs are built with proper error handling, monitoring, retry logic, throttling, access control, and performance optimization.

Team Management & Technical Governance

- Manage and guide a team of developers, engineers, and support resources responsible for API development, monitoring, maintenance, and enhancement.
- Review technical designs, code quality, deployment readiness, release plans, and production support processes.
- Set up governance processes for API inventory, ownership, documentation, access controls, monitoring dashboards, and periodic health reviews.
- Ensure adherence to internal IT processes, change management, incident management, vulnerability remediation, and audit requirements.
- Mentor team members on modern engineering practices, cloud technologies, secure coding, automation, and operational excellence.

Application Supervision & Vendor Management

- Supervise vendor-driven applications owned or supported by the Data & AI team, ensuring timely delivery, stability, compliance, and production readiness.
- Track vendor deliverables, open issues, release plans, defects, SLAs, escalations, and closure status.
- Coordinate with vendors for application enhancements, bug fixes, regression testing, deployment planning, and post-production support.
- Ensure applications are aligned with enterprise architecture, security standards, infrastructure norms, and business continuity expectations.
- Drive structured reviews with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure accountability, transparency, and measurable outcomes.

VAPT, Security & Compliance Governance

- Own and govern the VAPT track for applications, APIs, servers, and platforms under the Data & AI team.
- Coordinate with information security, infrastructure, vendors, and application teams for vulnerability identification, remediation, retesting, and closure.
- Track security observations, risk ratings, target dates, exception approvals, and audit evidence.
- Ensure API and application development follows secure coding, access management, data protection, encryption, authentication, and authorization best practices.




- Maintain compliance documentation and periodic status reporting for management reviews, audits, and internal governance forums.

Cloud, Infrastructure & Server Uptime Management

- Coordinate provisioning and management of infrastructure required for APIs, applications, data platforms, and AI-related workloads.
- Work with cloud and infrastructure teams to manage environments across Azure and GCP, including compute, storage, networking, identity, access, monitoring, and backup requirements.
- Track internal server uptime, performance, capacity, patches, alerts, incidents, and preventive maintenance activities.
- Ensure proper monitoring, logging, alerting, and escalation mechanisms are in place for production systems.
- Support cloud adoption, modernization, automation, and cost-conscious infrastructure planning for Data & AI initiatives.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong hands-on experience in API development, integration architecture, microservices, REST APIs, JSON, authentication, and API security.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
- Exposure to cloud services such as compute, storage, networking, identity management, serverless services, monitoring, logging, and security controls.
- Good understanding of application deployment, CI/CD practices, DevOps ways of working, version control, release management, and environment management.
- Experience with databases, SQL, application integrations, data flows, and basic data engineering concepts.
- Understanding of VAPT, vulnerability remediation, secure coding practices, access controls, encryption, audit trails, and security governance.
- Ability to read, review, and challenge technical designs, architecture documents, API specifications, and vendor solution proposals.

Preferred Skills

- Experience in insurance, BFSI, fintech, or regulated enterprise technology environments.
- Exposure to API gateways, Azure API Management, Apigee, Kong, MuleSoft, or similar integration platforms.
- Knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, Docker, serverless architecture, event-driven integrations, and cloud-native design patterns.
- Understanding of data platforms, analytics systems, AI/ML application integration, and enterprise reporting ecosystems.
- Certifications in Azure, GCP, cloud architecture, DevOps, security, or API management will be an added advantage.

Qualification & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in API development, application integration, cloud technology, infrastructure coordination, or application support governance.
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in API development or application integration projects.
- Experience in managing small technical teams, vendors, production applications, and cross-functional IT initiatives.
- Prior experience in regulated environments with security, audit, VAPT, and compliance requirements will be preferred.
