Role Description The Team Doctor role at East Bengal is a full-time, on-site position based in Kolkata.
The Team
Doctor will oversee the medical care of players, including conducting pre-season and routine health assessments, managing acute injuries during training and matches, and coordinating rehabilitation plans.
Responsibilities include providing pitch-side medical support, maintaining accurate medical records, collaborating with coaching and fitness staff on player health and workload management, and implementing injury prevention and wellness programs. The role also involves coordinating diagnostic tests and specialist referrals, ensuring compliance with league and federation medical regulations, and educating players on nutrition, recovery, and overall health.
Qualifications
- Relevant medical qualifications,
including an MBBS degree and valid medical registration; specialization in sports medicine, orthopedics, or physiatrics is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in sports or team-based medical practice, preferably with professional or semi-skilled athletes.
- Strong clinical skills in acute injury management, musculoskeletal assessment, and emergency response in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to design and oversee injury prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-play protocols in coordination with physiotherapists and fitness coaches.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with players, coaching staff, and management, while maintaining medical confidentiality.
- Capacity to work extended and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, travel for matches, and training schedules.
- Knowledge of sports nutrition, recovery strategies, and performance-related health factors relevant to elite football.
- Strong organizational skills for maintaining medical records, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with governing body regulations.
