Job Purpose/ Summary To lead and optimize extrusion press operations by ensuring safe, productive, and high-quality production of extruded products. The role is responsible for process improvement, equipment reliability, productivity enhancement, quality compliance, troubleshooting, and coordination with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to achieve operational and business objectives

As a Senior Engineer in the Process Department, you will lead and optimize press operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of extruded products.

Your role will involve driving process improvements, enhancing equipment reliability, and boosting productivity. You will ensure compliance with quality standards and troubleshoot any operational issues. Collaborating with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams, you will work towards achieving both operational and business objectives.

Your expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, and SAP applications will be crucial in managing and improving the extrusion processes. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers and operators, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Your strategic mindset and strong communication skills will be essential in navigating complex challenges and driving the organization towards its goals.

Responsibility





Plan execute and monitor daily extrusion production activities in alignment with the production planbrSet and control extrusion parameters such as billet temperature container temperature die temperature extrusion speed pressure reduction ratio and lubrication conditionsbrEnsure proper selection and installation of dies mandrels tooling and other extrusion accessoriesbrMonitor the extrusion of stainless steel grades ensuring optimum material flow and dimensional controlbrMinimize process defects rejection scrap and material losses through effective process managementbrAchieve daily and monthly production targets while maintaining required quality standardsbrMonitor OEE machine utilization production yield cycle time and extrusion efficiencybrIdentify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to optimize billet consumption tooling life energy consumption and overall conversion costbrCoordinate with upstream and downstream processes to ensure smooth material flowbrEnsure extruded tubes and pipes conform to applicable customer specifications drawings and standardsbrMonitor critical quality parameters including ODID wall thickness length surface quality straightness ovality internalexternal defects and mechanical and metallurgical propertiesbrInvestigate processrelated quality problems and implement effective corrective and preventive actionsbrWork closely with QAQC and laboratory teams for inspection testing and resolution of quality issuesbrEnsure compliance with applicable standards such as ASTM ASME EN ISO and customerspecific specificationsbrAnalyze extrusion defects and conduct rootcause analysis using appropriate problemsolving techniquesbrImplement corrective actions and monitor their effectiveness providing technical support during new grade size tooling and process trialsbrMonitor the condition and performance of dies mandrels containers liners dummy blocks and other critical toolingbrDevelop optimum dietooling combinations for different grades and sizes maintaining tooling performance records and analyzing tool lifebrCoordinate with tooling maintenancemanufacturing teams for repair modification and development of extrusion toolsbrCoordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance of extrusion presses and associated equipmentbrMonitor hydraulic mechanical electrical heating lubrication and cooling systems identifying recurring equipment problems and supporting permanent corrective actionsbrLead and guide operators technicians and junior engineers working in the extrusion area allocating manpower according to production requirements and employee skill levelsbrTrain operators on process parameters SOPs quality requirements and safe working practicesbrEnsure strict compliance with plant safety rules PPE requirements SOPs and work permitsbrConduct safety awareness and toolbox talks for extrusion personnel ensuring proper housekeeping and implementation of 5S in the extrusion areabrMaintain production rejection downtime tooling and process parameter records preparing daily weekly and monthly production and performance reportsbrIdentify and implement initiatives for improvement in productivity yield quality tool life energy consumption machine utilization scrap reduction downtime reduction and manufacturing cost
