Role Description The SQL Database Administrator is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai. This role is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing SQL databases that support HummingBird’s AI-powered platform and related services.

Day-to-day tasks include monitoring database performance, implementing backup and recovery strategies, managing database security and access, and ensuring high availability through replication and clustering where applicable.



The SQL Database Administrator will collaborate with development and operations teams to design efficient database schemas, troubleshoot production issues, and support deployments and upgrades. The role also involves documenting database configurations, following best practices for data integrity and compliance, and contributing to continuous improvement of database operations.

Qualifications

- Robust skills in Database Administration and Databases, with experience managing SQL Server or other relational database management systems.
- Proficiency in Replication and high availability configurations, including backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning.
- Experience with Database Design, including schema modeling, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Solid Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving performance, connectivity, and data integrity issues.
- Hands-on experience with performance tuning, monitoring tools, and automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, SQL scripts).
- Knowledge of security best practices, role-based access control, and compliance requirements related to data protection.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate technical concepts clearly, and document processes effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in cloud or hybrid database environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) is an advantage.
