Solution Engineer Onam Cloud

Location: Kochi / Bengaluru / Chennai (Work from office)

Employment Type: Full time

About Onam Cloud

Onam Cloud is a sovereign cloud platform operated by Saints and Masters India Private Limited. We offer public cloud, dedicated private cloud, bare-metal infrastructure, storage, Kubernetes, and hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity for customers requiring greater control, performance, compliance, and digital sovereignty.

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Solution Engineer who can design secure, scalable, and cost-effective cloud and infrastructure solutions for Onam Cloud customers.

You will own the technical aspects of the customer journey—from understanding requirements and designing solution architectures to conducting demonstrations and proof-of-concept deployments. You will also ensure that approved solutions are clearly documented and handed over effectively to the implementation and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Engage customers to understand their business, application, infrastructure, security, compliance, and operational requirements.
- Assess customers’ digital sovereignty and data residency requirements and design appropriate solutions for government, BFSI, and other regulated sectors.
- Design solutions across public cloud, private cloud, hybrid cloud, multi-cloud, bare-metal, and on-premises environments.
- Prepare solution architectures, bills of materials, technical proposals, presentations, implementation plans, and effort estimates.
- Conduct product demonstrations, technical workshops, solution walkthroughs, and proof-of-concept deployments.
- Recommend compute, storage, networking, virtualization, container, backup, and disaster recovery architectures based on each customer’s workload and risk profile.
- Perform workload assessments and support migrations from VMware, on-premises platforms, AWS, Azure, and other cloud environments.

- Recommend modern monitoring, observability, automation, and AIOps practices that help customers move from reactive troubleshooting towards proactive operations.
- Work closely with Sales, Platform Engineering, Customer Success, implementation, and partner teams.
- Support customer onboarding and ensure a smooth handover to implementation and operations teams.
- Maintain reusable solution templates, architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and customer-facing materials.

Required Technical Skills

- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience designing solutions on AWS, Microsoft Azure, hybrid-cloud, and multi-cloud environments.
- Experience with cloud-native architectures and the deployment and administration of Kubernetes workloads.
- Deep understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, DNS, load balancing, and public and private IP addressing.
- Strong understanding of virtualization technologies such as KVM, Proxmox VE, and VMware.
- Hands-on knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, and infrastructure automation.
- Understanding of bare-metal infrastructure, server hardware, storage, RAID, and data-centre environments.
- Experience with on-premises infrastructure, workload assessment, and migration.
- Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, high availability, security, and capacity planning.
- Familiarity with AIOps concepts, including AI/ML-assisted monitoring, anomaly detection, event correlation,

and observability.
- Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, platform, and application connectivity issues across multiple technology layers.

Preferred Platform Experience Experience with one or more of the following would be an advantage:

- Linux administration
- KVM, Proxmox VE, or VMware
- Ceph storage
- Kubernetes and KubeVirt
- Apache CloudStack or OpenStack
- OPNsense or similar firewall platforms
- Arista or Cisco networking
- Infrastructure monitoring and observability platforms
- AIOps, DevOps, or SRE practices involving monitoring, automation, or incident response
- Keycloak, LDAP, SSO, and multi-tenant identity and access management
- GitOps and CI/CD practices
- Cloud security, governance, risk, and compliance controls

Professional Skills

- Strong customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Ability to explain complex technologies clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong technical documentation and solution-writing skills.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of cloud pricing and cost optimization.
- Ability and willingness to own opportunities from technical discovery through customer onboarding.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple internal and external teams.

Experience and Qualifications

- At least three years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure, solution architecture, systems engineering, pre-sales, DevOps, SRE, or a similar role.
- Practical, hands-on infrastructure experience is essential.
- Relevant certifications would be an advantage, including AWS or Azure Solutions Architect, CKA, CKAD, RHCSA, LFCS, or equivalent cloud, cloud-native, Linux, networking, or infrastructure certifications.
