Minimum qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.

Preferred qualifications:

- Experience in one or more of the following: C++, C, Java, Python, or Go.
- Experience in an engineering or operations role in distributed systems and large-scale environments.
- Expertise in building and managing a team of results-oriented experienced engineers who deliver on large-scale projects.
- Expertise in problem-solving and analyzing global scale distributed systems.
- Strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.

About the Job Memorystore SRE makes Cloud Memorystore the world's most reliable, scalable, durable, secure, and best supported in-memory Cloud database. We offer a fully managed in-memory service that offers sub-millisecond data access, scalability, and high availability for a wide range of applications. Memorystore's product offerings include Redis, a sharded cluster solution (Memorystore for Redis Cluster) and an open-source based offering (Valkey).

This team surfaces insightful service metrics to customers and stakeholders. The ultimate goal is to scale our alerting infrastructure to cover all customers - while keeping operational load manageable. We continuously verify significant assumptions and reduce risks about our services in production as they continue to evolve and change.

We also find novel approaches to run our systems more efficiently which will always be of interest - but especially with the rise of demand from AI. Using expertise in the overall system architecture,



we build automation and self-repair into the service to improve customer satisfaction and reduce team toil. We continually look towards common services and tools within GPP to adopt and improve our product offerings.

Responsibilities

- Lead a team of software and systems engineers, including iteration and task planning. Deliver on manager responsibilities and care for the team.
- Set team priorities and drive team OKR execution with input from SRE leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with Dev partner teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Establish technical credibility and influence technical direction and high-quality delivery from the team.
- Participate in primary on-call rotation; cultivate technical curiosity and growth mindset, and a blameless postmortem culture within the team.
