Role Description:
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture practice supporting our specialty insurance and reinsurance businesses. You will operate simultaneously at the strategic and technical levels comfortable presenting architecture roadmaps to business leadership one day and writing code templates the next. You will be responsible for the enterprise architecture practice's tooling and governance model in LeanIX, provide technical depth across the Microsoft and Java stacks that underpin our policy administration, underwriting, claims, and reinsurance systems, and mentor a team of junior architects.
Deep familiarity with the specialty/reinsurance technology landscape, including London Market and Lloyd's syndicate operations where applicable, is a strong advantage given the complexity and bespoke nature of our business systems. You will be expected to configure and extend LeanIX itself, build integrations, and stay close enough to the code to credibly advise engineering teams on modernizing legacy systems.
You will have demonstrated solid expertise in C#, Python, and Java, coupled with handson LeanIX integration experience. The ideal candidate must have a deep understanding of LeanIX features, configuration, and metamodel design, as well as a solid grounding in TOGAF and Enterprise Architecture governance practices.
This role serves as a technical anchor for Enterprise Architecture initiatives, enabling architecture-driven insights, governance, and technology lifecycle management.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Enterprise Architecture
- Define and maintain capability maps and technology roadmaps for the value chain: underwriting, policy administration, claims, reinsurance/retrocession, delegated authority, bordereaux processing, and finance/actuarial systems
- Guide application rationalization, TIME/APM assessments and technology risk (obsolescence) analysis across a typically complex, M&A-driven; insurance systems landscape
- Facilitate architecture review boards and provide governance over solution designs, ensuring alignment to enterprise standards, TOGAF principles, and insurance regulatory/compliance requirements (e.g., Solvency II, Lloyd's Blueprint Two / Core Data Record requirements, SOX, data privacy regimes)
- Advise on architecture implications of market messaging standards and platforms relevant to (re)insurance, such as ACORD standards, Lloyd's/LIMOSS market services, and London Market bureau systems
- Support EA governance initiatives such as application portfolio governance, lifecycle management, technology risk assessment, and architecture review processes.
- Collaborate crossfunctionally with product teams, solution architects, and governance boards.
- Support EA governance initiatives such as application portfolio governance, lifecycle management, technology risk assessment, and architecture review processes.
- Collaborate crossfunctionally with product teams, solution architects, and governance boards.
LeanIX Ownership
- Act as the internal subject-matter expert and lead engineer for LeanIX, including meta model configuration, custom fields, workspaces, and reporting tailored to the application portfolio (e.g., mapping policy admin systems, rating engines, claims systems, and reinsurance platforms as fact sheets)
- Design, build, and maintain integrations between LeanIX and source-of-truth systems (CMDB, ITSM, HR, cloud inventory, CI/CD pipelines, vendor/broker platform registries) using the LeanIX API, Pathfinder, and/or iPaaS tooling
- Drive data quality, factsheet completeness, and survey campaigns across business and IT stakeholders
- Advise stakeholders on how to use LeanIX outputs (landscape diagrams, roadmaps, risk reports) to inform legacy platform decommissioning
Hands-On Technical Depth
- Provide architectural guidance and code-level review across both the Microsoft stack (C#, .NET / .NET Core, ASP.NET, Azure) and Java ecosystem (Java, Spring Boot, and legacy Java EE/Spring frameworks)
- Prototype integrations, proofs of concept, and reference implementations personally when needed including integrations with core insurance platforms, rating engines, broker/MGA portals, and reinsurance placement or bordereaux systems
- Design, develop, and maintain LeanIX integrations using APIs, automation scripts, custom connectors,
- Configure and enhance LeanIX metamodels, fact sheets, lifecycles, relations, tags, workflows, and dashboards.
- Develop reusable tools and scripts using C#, Python, and Java for ingestion, transformation, and synchronization of EA data to and from LeanIX and other systems.
- Partner with security, infrastructure, and data architects to ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements (scalability, resilience, auditability) appropriate to regulated data
Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of junior and mid-level solutions architects, including structured mentorship, design reviews, and career development
- Set technical direction and quality bar for architecture deliverables produced by the team
- Act as an escalation point for complex or contested architecture decisions,
including those involving legacy insurance systems with limited institutional knowledge
