Senior Specialist, People Operations
Location: Bangalore, India
Region of coverage: APAC (Singapore, India, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Greater China)
Team: Global People Operations
About the role
People Operations is the engine room of the employee experience. Every hire, change, promotion and exit runs through this team and the accuracy of that work determines whether payroll pays correctly, whether reporting can be trusted and whether we pass audit without remediation.
As Senior Specialist you hold operational ownership for the APAC region, working as part of a global team that applies one consistent standard across every jurisdiction. You will run the lifecycle end to end in Workday, act as the control layer that catches issues before they reach payroll or reporting and take the lead on the complex, exception based cases that do not fit a standard path. This is an autonomous role with real ownership, so alongside execution you will be expected to improve how the work gets done, using automation and AI enabled tooling to take manual effort out of the process.
What you will own
1. Lifecycle execution and complex case management
- Execute end to end lifecycle transactions in Workday covering hires, changes and exits, with accuracy, timeliness and complete documentation
- Independently resolve complex and non standard cases, including policy and system exceptions
- Act as the escalation point for high risk transactions across the region
- Support employee mobility activity in partnership with Global Mobility, covering system transactions, documentation and process coordination
- Maintain consistent, standardised execution across every APAC jurisdiction
2. Data integrity and downstream accuracy
- Own the accuracy, completeness and integrity of APAC employee data in Workday as the system of record
- Identify and resolve discrepancies before they reach payroll, benefits, compensation or reporting
- Execute and validate compensation transactions under strict process controls
- Partner with Payroll and Finance to investigate and close out data issues at root cause
3. Benefits, policy and regional compliance
- Support regional benefits programmes alongside the Global Benefits COE and external vendors, ensuring accurate system configuration and aligned employee data
- Apply People policies consistently across jurisdictions, with judgement on where local requirements differ
- Maintain a working knowledge of employment law and regulatory requirements in the markets you cover
4. Quality, controls and audit
- Perform quality assurance checks on transactions and documentation against defined standards
- Act as a key control layer for People processes across the region
- Support internal and external audit activity, including SOX, through accurate and well maintained records
- Surface systemic risks, control gaps and inconsistencies, then drive corrective action through to sustainable resolution
5. Process improvement and automation
- Analyse recurring issues at root cause and implement scalable improvements rather than workarounds
- Optimise workflows to reduce manual effort, improve throughput and strengthen service delivery
- Apply system capability and AI enabled tooling to improve efficiency, accuracy and the employee experience
6. Partnership and regional support
- Act as a first point of contact for employee lifecycle queries, resolving directly or routing to the right specialist team
- Partner with People and cross functional teams to keep execution coordinated across regions
- Contribute to global initiatives that make People Operations more scalable and more consistent
- Provide periodic administrative and site coordination support for the Bangalore office Qualifications
What you will bring
Essential
- 5 to 7 years in People Operations or HR Operations, with advanced hands on Workday experience across transactions, data governance and reporting
- A proven track record handling complex, exception based lifecycle cases independently
- Experience working in a controlled, audit driven setting
- Demonstrated process improvement, automation or system optimisation work, including use of AI enabled tools to reduce manual effort
- Working knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements in two or more APAC countries
- Fluent written and verbal English
Desirable
- SOX exposure
- Experience supporting a multi country region from a single hub
- Exposure to global mobility processes
How you work
- High precision with a control and audit mindset
- Comfortable operating at volume in a high risk environment without letting quality slip
- Sound judgement on when to execute, when to escalate and when to route
- Clear, concise communication with stakeholders across functions and time zones
What success looks like
- Consistently high data accuracy with minimal error rates across transactions
- Clean audit outcomes supported by compliant, well documented processes
- Complex and exception cases handled to resolution with minimal escalation
