We are seeking an experienced Senior Terraform Engineer to design, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role focuses on building scalable, reusable, and secure Terraform modules, driving automation, and enabling consistent cloud infrastructure deployments across environments.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Terraform, GCP services, CI/CD automation, and cloud networking, along with strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Development
Design, develop, and maintain Terraform modules and reusable components for GCP infrastructure.
Standardize infrastructure provisioning across Development, Testing, UAT, Pre-Production, and Production environments.
Ensure modular, version-controlled, and scalable IaC practices.
Implement state management, remote backends, and environment isolation strategies.
Manage and maintain centralized Terraform module registries to promote reusable, standardized, and governed infrastructure components across teams and environments.
Oversee Terraform provider lifecycle management, including provider versioning, compatibility validation, upgrade planning, and dependency governance across infrastructure codebases.
Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) testing frameworks and validation processes for Terraform modules and infrastructure deployments, including linting, policy validation, automated testing, and compliance checks.
Cloud Infrastructure Automation (GCP)
Automate provisioning of GCP services, including:
Compute & Containers: GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions
Data services: BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Spanner, Bigtable
Messaging: Pub/Sub, Memorystore
Storage & Security: Cloud Storage, Cloud Armor,
Artifact Registry
Configure infrastructure elements such as:
VPC, Shared VPC, VPC Peering
Private Service Connect, Private Google Access
Load balancers, Cloud DNS, firewall rules
CI/CD Integration
Integrate Terraform deployments into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git-based workflows).
Implement automated workflows for
Infrastructure provisioning and updates
Plan, apply, and drift detection processes
Enforce code quality and policy checks (e.g., SonarQube, linting tools).
Environment & Release Management
Manage lifecycle of infrastructure across multiple environments.
Enable rollback mechanisms, and environment consistency.
Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure with applications.
Security & Governance
Implement best practices for IAM roles, policies, and least-privilege access.
Ensure compliance with security standards and governance frameworks.
Manage secrets securely using GCP-native or integrated tools.
Troubleshooting & Optimization
Diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure deployment issues.
Optimize Terraform configurations for performance, cost, and reliability.
Identify and remediate infrastructure drift and inconsistencies.
Collaboration & Agile Practices
Work closely with
GCP platform engineers and architects
Application development teams (Frontend/Backend)
DevOps and QA teams
Participate in Scrum ceremonies and provide regular updates.
Maintain and update documentation in Confluence and related tools.
Continuous Improvement
Stay updated with the latest Terraform features, GCP capabilities, and DevOps best practices.
Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual intervention.
Mentor junior engineers and promote IaC best practices across teams.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
5–8 years of overall experience, with 2–4+ years of strong Terraform experience.
Hands-on experience with:
Terraform (advanced concepts: modules, state, workspaces)
Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git workflows)
Docker and containerized environments
Strong scripting skills (Bash/Shell; Groovy is a plus).
Deep understanding of
Cloud networking (VPC, VPN, Interconnect)
Security, IAM, and governance
Familiarity with Atlassian tools: JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Terraform certification (Terraform Authoring and Operations Professional / Terraform Associate).
Experience with
Kubernetes (GKE) and container orchestration
Microservices architecture
Hybrid cloud environments (On-Prem + GCP)
Exposure to
Apigee API management
Observability tools (Dynatrace, Cloud Monitoring, Logging)
Akamai integrations
Knowledge of build tools (NPM, Gradle).
