AVATARA DEFENCE is a defence technology company focused on advanced solutions across AI, AR/VR, simulation, robotics, drones, counter-drone systems, high-performance computing and defence training technologies.

We are looking for a highly experienced and commercially strong Senior Procurement, Purchase & Vendor Management Professional with deep knowledge of the IT hardware ecosystem, particularly CPUs, GPUs, workstations, servers, networking equipment and high-performance computing components.

The candidate will be responsible for managing the complete procurement cycle, developing strategic vendor relationships, negotiating commercial terms and ensuring timely availability of critical hardware for defence technology projects.

Role Overview The skilled will be responsible for strategic sourcing, procurement, purchase, vendor development, commercial negotiation, cost optimisation and supply-chain coordination for IT hardware and technology projects.

The ideal candidate should have an established network of OEMs, distributors, system integrators and authorised IT hardware vendors, particularly in the CPU/GPU ecosystem.

The role requires a strong combination of technical understanding, procurement expertise, commercial negotiation and execution capability.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Procurement

- Develop and execute procurement strategies for IT hardware and technology requirements.
- Source CPUs, GPUs, servers, workstations, storage, networking equipment and related components.
- Identify reliable OEMs, distributors, authorised partners and system integrators.
- Develop alternative sources to reduce supply-chain dependency.
- Plan procurement based on project requirements, delivery schedules and inventory levels.
- Ensure availability of critical components within required timelines.

1. CPU & GPU Procurement

- Maintain strong market knowledge of Intel, AMD, NVIDIA and other relevant CPU/GPU ecosystems.
- Track availability, pricing, lead times and product lifecycle of CPUs and GPUs.
- Understand GPU specifications, VRAM, architecture, performance requirements and compatibility.
- Source high-end GPUs for AI, simulation, AR/VR, rendering, defence training and HPC applications.
- Source processors and supporting components required for high-performance systems.
- Track new product launches, shortages, EOL products and supply constraints.
- Identify suitable alternatives when specific CPU/GPU models are unavailable.

1. Purchase Management

- Manage the complete purchase cycle from requirement generation to final delivery.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from multiple vendors.
- Prepare comparative statements and commercial evaluations.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, warranties, delivery schedules and other commercial conditions.
- Generate and manage Purchase Orders.
- Track order acknowledgements and delivery commitments.
- Ensure procurement is aligned with approved project budgets.
- Maintain complete procurement documentation.

1. Vendor Management

- Build and maintain a strong network of IT hardware vendors.




- Identify and onboard new vendors based on quality, capability, pricing and reliability.
- Evaluate vendor performance on price, quality, delivery and service.
- Negotiate annual / project-level commercial agreements.
- Develop strategic relationships with key suppliers and distributors.
- Maintain vendor databases and approved-vendor lists.
- Conduct periodic vendor performance reviews.
- Resolve vendor-related delivery, quality and commercial issues.

1. Commercial Negotiation

- Negotiate aggressively but professionally to achieve optimal commercial terms.
- Benchmark market pricing for CPUs, GPUs, servers, workstations and other hardware.
- Conduct price discovery and competitive bidding.
- Negotiate volume discounts and project-based pricing.
- Negotiate payment terms, credit periods, warranties and replacement conditions.
- Identify opportunities for procurement cost savings.

1. Project Procurement

- Work closely with Project Managers, CTO, COO and technical teams to understand project requirements.
- Convert technical BOMs into procurement plans.
- Validate technical specifications before procurement.
- Prepare project-wise procurement schedules.
- Ensure hardware reaches project sites according to deployment timelines.
- Track procurement against project milestones.
- Highlight potential procurement risks and delays in advance.

1. Bill of Materials (BOM) Management

- Review and manage hardware BOMs.
- Understand component dependencies and compatibility.
- Analyse BOM cost and identify opportunities for optimisation.
- Suggest alternative components without compromising project specifications.
- Track changes to BOMs and their commercial impact.

1. Supply Chain & Logistics Coordination

- Coordinate with vendors, logistics partners and internal teams for timely delivery.
- Track shipments and expected delivery dates.
- Manage urgent / critical hardware requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation for material movement and delivery.
- Coordinate receipt, inspection and handover of hardware.

1. Cost Control & Procurement Analytics

- Maintain project-wise procurement cost reports.
- Track quoted price vs. negotiated price vs. final purchase price.
- Analyse procurement savings.
- Monitor price fluctuations in the IT hardware market.
- Prepare procurement MIS reports for management.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities across projects.

Candidate Profile

Mandatory Requirements

- 710 years of professional experience in procurement / purchase / sourcing / vendor management.
- Strong experience specifically in IT Hardware procurement.
- Proven experience in CPU and GPU procurement is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of the IT hardware supply chain.
- Experience dealing with OEMs, distributors, authorised partners and system integrators.
- Strong commercial negotiation skills.
- Experience managing high-value IT hardware purchases.
- Strong understanding of BOMs and technical specifications.

What We Are Looking For We are looking for a hands-on procurement professional who understands the IT hardware market deeply.

The ideal candidate should know where to source a high-end GPU, who can supply it, what the prevailing market price is, what alternatives are available, how to negotiate the best commercial terms and how to ensure delivery within the project's deadline.

This is not a purely administrative purchase role. The candidate will be expected to actively participate in strategic sourcing, market intelligence, vendor negotiations, technical BOM discussions and project execution.

A strong existing network within the CPU/GPU and enterprise IT hardware ecosystem will be a significant advantage.

Compensation

912 Lakhs Per Annum, depending on experience, skills and suitability for the role.

The final compensation may be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience, existing vendor network, technical knowledge and procurement expertise.

Location

New Delhi / Pune The candidate should be willing to travel periodically for vendor meetings, OEM/distributor meetings, negotiations, project requirements and other business activities.

Education A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration, Commerce or a related discipline is preferred.

Additional qualifications in Supply Chain Management, Procurement or IT Hardware will be an advantage.
