About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Manager Accounts & Finance who can independently manage the complete accounting, finance, taxation, compliance, audit and financial reporting functions of a sizeable and growing business.
The ideal candidate should be a qualified Chartered Accountant with 5 - 10 years of post-qualification experience, preferably having handled end-to-end finance and accounts responsibilities in a medium to large organization.
This is not purely a supervisory role. The candidate should have strong practical knowledge and should be comfortable getting into transaction-level details whenever required while also providing financial insights and MIS to senior management.
The person will be responsible for maintaining strong financial controls, ensuring statutory compliance, closing books on time, managing audits, improving processes and providing accurate financial information for business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Complete Accounting & Books of Accounts
- Take ownership of the company's complete books of accounts.
- Ensure accurate accounting of revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, provisions and accruals.
- Review General Ledger, Trial Balance and account schedules.
- Ensure proper accounting treatment in accordance with applicable Accounting Standards / Ind AS.
- Review journal entries, provisions, prepaid expenses, accruals and month-end adjustments.
- Monitor Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Ensure proper vendor, customer and ledger reconciliations.
- Review bank reconciliations and cash/bank transactions.
- Ensure timely accounting and closing of books.
2. Month-End & Year-End Closing
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual book closure.
- Ensure timely preparation of
- Trial Balance
- Profit & Loss Account
- Balance Sheet
- Cash Flow Statement
- Financial schedules
- Management reports
- Review provisions and accruals before closing.
- Perform variance analysis against budget, previous month and previous year.
- Ensure financial statements accurately reflect the company's financial position.
3. Financial Reporting & MIS
- Prepare detailed monthly MIS for senior management.
- Provide management with clear visibility of:
- Revenue
- Gross margin
- Operating expenses
- EBITDA
- Profitability
- Receivables
- Payables
- Cash position
- Working capital
- Business/unit-wise performance
- Analyze financial data and highlight major deviations, risks and opportunities.
- Prepare dashboards and reports required by management.
- Support management in financial decision-making through accurate analysis.
4. GST Compliance The candidate should have strong practical knowledge of GST and be capable of independently handling GST-related activities.
Responsibilities include
- GST accounting and reconciliation.
- GSTR-1 preparation/review.
- GSTR-3B preparation/review.
- Input Tax Credit reconciliation.
- GSTR-2B reconciliation.
- Vendor GST reconciliation.
- Output tax reconciliation.
- Annual GST reconciliation.
- Handling GST notices and queries.
- Coordinating with consultants and authorities when required.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable GST regulations.
5. Income Tax & TDS
- Ensure correct deduction and payment of TDS.
- Review monthly TDS workings.
- Ensure timely filing of TDS returns.
- Review Form 26AS / AIS / TIS reconciliations.
- Support corporate income-tax computation.
- Coordinate advance-tax calculation.
- Handle income-tax notices and assessments with consultants.
- Support annual income-tax return filing.
6. Statutory Compliance Ensure timely compliance relating to:
- GST
- TDS
- Income Tax
- Companies Act requirements related to accounts
- Skilled Tax, where applicable
- PF/ESI financial reconciliation where applicable
- Other statutory financial compliances
Maintain proper documentation and compliance calendars to ensure no statutory deadlines are missed. 7. Statutory Audit & Internal Audit
- Act as the primary finance contact for statutory auditors.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
- Resolve audit queries.
- Ensure timely completion of statutory audit.
- Support tax audit and other regulatory audits.
- Implement corrective actions arising from audit observations.
- Strengthen processes based on internal audit recommendations.
8. Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Monitor customer outstanding and ageing.
- Track overdue receivables.
- Coordinate with business and collection teams.
- Identify long-pending receivables.
- Review provisioning requirements for doubtful receivables.
- Improve receivable collection cycles.
- Ensure customer balance confirmations and reconciliations.
9. Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Review vendor payments and payment proposals.
- Ensure adherence to payment terms.
- Review vendor ageing.
- Ensure vendor account reconciliation.
- Monitor statutory deductions on vendor payments.
- Ensure proper approval controls before payments.
- Monitor advances given to vendors and employees.
10. Banking & Treasury
- Monitor daily cash and bank position.
- Prepare cash-flow forecasts.
- Plan fund requirements.
- Manage working-capital requirements.
- Coordinate with banks for operational requirements.
- Monitor banking transactions and reconciliation.
- Manage Fixed Deposits / short-term investments where applicable.
- Optimize utilization of available funds.
11. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support preparation of annual business budgets.
- Coordinate with departmental heads for budget inputs.
- Prepare financial forecasts.
- Track Actual vs Budget performance.
- Analyze major variances.
- Provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Prepare rolling forecasts wherever required.
12. Working Capital Management
Closely monitor
- Receivables
- Payables
- Inventory, wherever applicable
- Cash balances
- Advances
- Vendor payment cycles
- Customer collection cycles
Identify opportunities to improve working capital and cash flows. 13. Fixed Assets
- Maintain Fixed Asset Register.
- Ensure proper capitalization of assets.
- Review depreciation.
- Conduct periodic asset verification.
- Reconcile Fixed Asset Register with General Ledger.
- Ensure proper accounting for asset disposal, transfer and write-off.
14. Internal Financial Controls Establish and strengthen controls across finance processes including:
- Revenue recognition
- Vendor payments
- Customer receipts
- Expense approvals
- Bank payments
- Employee reimbursements
- Journal entries
- Procurement-related accounting
- Fixed assets
- Taxation
- Financial reporting
Identify control gaps and implement corrective measures. 15. Process Improvement & Automation
- Review existing Finance & Accounts processes.
- Identify manual and repetitive activities.
- Implement stronger processes and controls.
- Participate in ERP/accounting system improvements.

16. Business & Commercial Finance Support The role should go beyond routine accounting. The candidate will be expected to understand the business and assist management in areas such as:

17. Cost Control
- Monitor departmental and business expenses.

18. Management & Leadership
- Manage and guide the Accounts & Finance team.
- Allocate responsibilities within the department.
- Review work performed by accountants and executives.
- Develop team capabilities.
- Ensure accuracy and discipline within the finance function.
- Establish clear SOPs and review mechanisms.
Candidate Profile
Mandatory Requirements
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA).
- 610 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Strong experience handling complete Accounts & Finance functions.
- Experience working in a medium-sized, large or rapidly growing organisation.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles.
- Strong knowledge of GST, TDS and Income Tax.
- Experience handling statutory audits.
- Experience preparing Balance Sheet, P&L; and Cash Flow Statements.
- Strong MIS and financial analysis experience.
- Good knowledge of working-capital management.
- Strong understanding of internal financial controls.
- Ability to independently manage month-end and year-end closing.

Education
Mandatory: Chartered Accountant
Candidates with additional qualifications such as B.Com / M.Com / MBA Finance / CMA / CS may have an advantage, but CA qualification is mandatory.
Experience
5 -10 years of post-qualification experience
Candidates should preferably have significant experience in a corporate finance/accounts environment rather than having worked exclusively in audit or consulting firms.
