- Knowledge Organization, led by the Chief AI &
- Knowledge Officer, alongside product and technology, change management, knowledge management, operations, value, and governance teams.

About the Role The Responsible AI Manager will help build and operationalize Alvarez & Marsal’s global responsible AI capability from the ground up. The role owns the governance mechanisms that determine how AI is assessed, approved, deployed, monitored, and retired across internal, vendor, and client-facing use cases. You will combine technical depth in data, AI/ML systems, architecture, security, and lifecycle controls with strong governance judgment.

Working with GAIKO, IT, Risk, Information Security, Legal, Compliance, and the AI Operating Committee, you will establish practical standards that protect confidentiality, privacy, fairness, security, and client trust without slowing responsible innovation. Success means creating a repeatable operating model, improving decision quality, making risk visible to senior leaders, and embedding responsible AI into delivery and adoption practices across geographies.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the global Responsible AI framework, including policies, standards, intake, use-case approval, risk escalation, and operating interfaces with existing technology risk review forums.
- Define lifecycle controls for AI development and deployment, covering sandbox environments, data permissions, architecture reviews, promotion gates, approval forums, client-facing use, and decommissioning.
- Lead technical and responsible AI assessments of vendor tools,

partnerships, internally built systems, agentic workflows, and engagement-team prototypes, challenging evidence on data handling, residency, security, bias, and confidentiality.
- Establish pre-deployment ethics reviews covering impact assessments, fairness testing, documentation, transparency, accuracy, escalation paths, and sign-off criteria for models and tools.
- Build the global AI risk taxonomy, register, monitoring, and audit mechanisms, tracking model drift, performance degradation, data-control violations, regulatory gaps, and lifecycle accountability.
- Create client AI review processes, delivery playbooks, employee guidelines, and adoption materials that embed responsible AI into project lifecycles and make compliant use practical across practices and regions.
- Prepare executive reporting on AI risk posture, decisions, exceptions, and remediation for the AI Operating Committee, AI Board, and client audiences when required.

Essential Skills & Technologies

- 8–12 years of experience with at least 2 years in AI governance, responsible AI, technology risk, data governance, security/GRC engineering, ML engineering, data engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to build governance frameworks, risk programs, compliance functions, policies, standards, controls, and operating models, preferably while standing up a new function or practice.
- Hands-on understanding of data flows, data architecture, data pipelines, model lifecycles, API and integration architecture, agentic patterns, MCP-style integrations, cloud residency, and security controls.
- Strong working knowledge of EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, GDPR, India’s DPDP Act, and related global privacy, security, and AI requirements.
- Experience conducting security assessments, controls reviews, governance compliance activities, third-party/vendor assessments, and risk evaluations with the ability to challenge technical claims.
- Ability to communicate complex technical and governance issues clearly to practitioners, business stakeholders, executive committees, C-suite leaders, and client audiences.
- Proven ability to influence without authority and drive implementation across matrixed, fast-paced,

geographically distributed professional services environments.

Additional Plus

- Consulting or professional services experience in an internal responsible AI function or client advisory role covering AI strategy, risk, compliance, or technology governance.
- Familiarity with enterprise AI and LLM platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or comparable tools, including confidentiality, residency, and data-handling considerations.
- Certifications such as GRCP, CIPP, CRISC, IEEE CertifAIEd, Trustworthy AI, or another relevant responsible AI, privacy, security, or risk credential.

What You'll Bring

- You bring technical credibility across AI/ML systems, data governance, architecture, security controls, and lifecycle management, enabling you to assess how systems actually work rather than reviewing policy in isolation.
- You bring governance-building experience, with the judgment to convert regulatory expectations and risk principles into practical standards, decision rights, control points, and operating routines.
- You bring balanced stakeholder leadership, partnering effectively with engineers, data teams, Information Security, Legal, Risk, Compliance, delivery leaders, and executives while maintaining independent challenge.
- You bring an implementation mindset suited to a newly formed, high-urgency global organization: you can create structure from ambiguity, prioritize material risks, influence without authority, and deliver usable tools that improve adoption and client trust.

Why Join Us

- Shape a global responsible AI function at an early stage, defining its charter, roadmap, operating model, controls, and influence across a rapidly growing consulting organization.
- Work alongside senior leaders and global practitioners on AI transformation that directly affects client delivery, firm risk, technology choices, and the future of professional services.
- Grow in an entrepreneurial culture that rewards impact, continuous learning, independent thinking, collaboration, and meaningful contributions to complex business outcomes.

What We Offer

- A high-impact opportunity within A&M;’s newly formed Global AI & Knowledge Organization, with exposure to global leadership, emerging AI use cases, and enterprise-level governance decisions.
- A culture of meritocracy with structured performance development, technical training, formal learning, and on-the-job opportunities to expand your expertise and career trajectory.
- Benefits and well-being resources designed to support your professional growth and personal journey, alongside a collaborative and inclusive working setting.
