NLSIU is inviting applications for the position of Research Associate at its Citizenship and Immigration Law Clinic. The initial tenure is one year, extendable based on performance.
Programme Details
The Clinic provides legal assistance concerning citizenship and immigration matters, including citizenship determination, asylum/refugee status, deportation, and detention. It also undertakes academic research and policy initiatives aimed at improving access to justice.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the Clinic’s research agenda and data collection activities.
- Assist in researching and drafting research outputs.
- Prepare legal briefs on developments in citizenship and immigration law.
- Maintain records of research outputs and coordinate with partner lawyers for case data.
- Publish research-based writings on citizenship and immigration law in India.
- Travel to research sites for data gathering, as required.
Eligibility:
- Bachelor’s degree in law.
- 1–3 years of research or practice experience in Citizenship and Immigration Law.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- A Master’s degree in law or an allied discipline is desirable.
Duration: One year, extendable based on performance.
