Role Description The Quality Inspector – Metal Fabrication is a full-time, on-site role based in Mumbai. This role is responsible for inspecting fabricated metal equipment and assemblies to ensure they meet established quality standards, drawings, and specifications. Daily activities include performing dimensional and visual inspections, reviewing material certificates and process documentation, and recording inspection results in line with quality procedures.

The role involves identifying non-conformities, coordinating with production and engineering teams to address quality issues, and supporting root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Inspector also assists in maintaining inspection tools and gauges, complying with safety and quality management systems, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the fabrication process.

Qualifications

- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering, with 7–10+ years of QC inspection experience in heavy fabrication, industrial equipment, machinery, or steel structures.
- Strong experience inspecting mild-steel and stainless-steel beams, plates, sheet-metal equipment, structural frames, box sections, bolted connections, and welded assemblies.
- Ability to interpret fabrication and assembly drawings, BOMs, weld symbols, sections, tolerances, and DIN EN ISO / European System A drawing conventions.
- Hands-on capability in dimensional and fit-up inspection using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, levels, squares, straightedges, measuring tapes, and weld gauges.
- Sound knowledge of WPS/PQR, welder qualifications, visual weld inspection, weld defects, distortion control, NDT coordination, MTC traceability, NCRs, and inspection documentation. Welding Inspector certification (IWI, CSWIP 3.1, or equivalent) preferred.
- Working knowledge of Indian and German/European fabrication standards, including IS 800, IS 2062, DIN EN ISO 2553, ISO 5817, ISO 17637, ISO 15614 and ISO 9606; strong attention to safety, quality, and documentation.
