: Senior Head Quality (QA/QC)

Industry: Structural Steel Fabrication, Electroforged Gratings and Industrial Fabrication

Position Objective

- We are seeking an experienced Senior Head Quality (QA/QC) to lead and strengthen the companys quality function across structural steel fabrication, electro forged gratings, handrails, large column structures, steel gutters, platforms and associated fabrication works.
- The candidate will be responsible for establishing a robust quality culture, improving quality benchmarks, reducing rework and rejections, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and applicable standards, and managing all client, consultant and third-party inspections.
- The role requires strong practical experience in a fabrication plant and the ability to work closely with production, engineering, procurement, project and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the complete QA/QC function for structural steel fabrication and electroforged grating manufacturing.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the companys Quality Management System and quality procedures.
- Prepare, review and implement project-specific Quality Assurance Plans, Quality Control Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, method statements and inspection checklists.
- Ensure inspection control at all stages, including: Incoming raw-material inspection and verification of material test certificates.
- Material identification, traceability and heat-number control.
- Cutting, bending, drilling, fit-up and dimensional inspections.
- Welding and electroforging-process inspections.
- Visual, dimensional and alignment inspections.
- NDT coordination, including DPT, MPT, UT and RT wherever applicable.
- Surface preparation, blasting, painting and hot-dip galvanizing inspection.
- Final inspection, packing, marking and dispatch clearance.
- Establish quality standards for electroforged gratings, including panel dimensions, bearing bars, cross bars, weld integrity, load capacity, deflection, finish, galvanizing and dimensional tolerances.
- Ensure that fabricated structures, platforms, handrails, gratings, gutters, columns and other products conform to approved drawings, specifications, codes and customer requirements.
- Review and control welding procedures, PQR/WPS documentation, welder qualifications and welding consumables.




- Maintain calibration records for measuring instruments, testing equipment and inspection gauges.
- Coordinate client inspections, consultant inspections, third-party inspections and stage-wise hold-point inspections.
- Serve as the primary quality interface with EPC companies, consultants, customers and inspection agencies.
- Review customer complaints, non-conformance reports and rejection cases; conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Reduce rework, scrap, weld defects, dimensional errors and dispatch-related qualityissues.
- Build, train and supervise a capable team of quality engineers, inspectors, welding inspectors and documentation personnel.
- Conduct regular quality audits of production areas, subcontractors, vendors and outsourced processes.
- Prepare and maintain inspection reports, NCR registers, corrective-action reports, test reports, release notes, final dossiers and manufacturing data books.
- Drive continuous improvement through quality KPIs, process audits, lessons learned and preventive controls.
- Support management in improving the companys quality reputation, customer confidence and eligibility for larger EPC and industrial projects.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Production, Metallurgy or Welding Engineering.
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in structural steel fabrication, heavy fabrication, electroforged gratings or allied industrial manufacturing.
- Minimum 4-5 years in a managerial or departmental leadership position.
- Strong hands-on experience in fabrication-shop quality control rather than only documentation or site inspection.

Candidates currently or previously associated with Indiana Gratings, Ferrotech Structures or comparable structural-fabrication and grating companies may be considered.

- Experience with EPC, refinery, power, infrastructure, industrial, port,



data-centre or large commercial projects will be preferred.

Technical Competencies

- The candidate should possess sound working knowledge of: Structural fabrication drawings, GA drawings, shop drawings and weld symbols.
- Electroforged grating manufacturing, inspection and testing.
- Structural steel fabrication, fit-up, welding, grinding and dimensional control.
- IS 2062 and relevant Indian Standards.
- AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, ASTM, BS 4592 and other applicable customer/project standards.
- ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
- Welding inspection, WPS/PQR, welder qualification and welding consumable control.
- NDT methods and coordination with qualified agencies.
- Surface preparation, painting systems, DFT measurement and hot-dip galvanizing.
- QAPs, ITPs, MDRs, inspection dossiers and customer documentation.
- NCR, CAPA, 8D, root-cause analysis and continuous-improvement systems.
- ERP or digital quality reporting systems and Excel-based quality dashboards.
- Certifications such as CSWIP 3.1, AWS-CWI, NDT Level II/III, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or welding inspector certification will be advantageous.
