About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer (QE) who can independently drive functional testing and test automation activities across multiple applications.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working directly with business and technical SMEs, understanding application workflows, preparing test plans, writing and curating test cases, converting appropriate scenarios into automated tests, executing test cycles, identifying defects, and collaborating with developers through resolution.
A key objective of this role is to contribute to building a modular, reusable test automation approach that can be integrated into CI/CD pipelines and reused across multiple applications.
The role requires someone who can work independently, communicate effectively with distributed stakeholders, and bring a structured approach to quality engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with identified Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), developers and stakeholders to understand application workflows, requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Prepare structured test plans and weekly work plans based on agreed priorities.
- Review test plans and testing outcomes with relevant stakeholders.
- Write, review and maintain comprehensive functional test cases.
- Identify suitable test scenarios for automation.
- Translate manual test cases into automated test scripts.
- Develop modular, maintainable and reusable automation components.
- Execute manual and automated test suites as part of application releases.
- Analyse test failures and identify defects.
- Log defects with clear reproduction steps, evidence and expected behaviour.
- Work closely with development teams to investigate and resolve defects.
- Perform regression testing and validate fixes.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Maintain automation code using Git/GitHub and standard branching and pull-request practices.
- Support the development of reusable automation frameworks that can be consumed across different applications.
- Participate in technical discussions around test architecture, framework design and automation strategy.
- Maintain clear documentation covering test scenarios, automation implementation and execution processes.
- Collaborate effectively with stakeholders working across different time zones.
Required Skills
Quality Engineering
- 3–5 years of experience in Software Testing / Quality Engineering.
- Strong understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
- Experience preparing:
- Test plans
- Test scenarios
- Test cases
- Regression suites
- Defect reports
- Good understanding of functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing.
- Strong debugging and analytical skills.
- Experience working closely with developers during defect resolution.
Test Automation
Hands-on experience with one or more automation frameworks such as:
- Playwright
- Selenium
- Cypress
- Pytest
- Jest
- Similar modern automation frameworks
Experience in at least one scripting/programming language such as:
- GitHub Actions
- Jenkins
- GitLab CI
- Azure DevOps
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines will be strongly preferred.
