About us

Norquest makes bags and packaging in Ahmedabad. We export to the US, UK, Europe and Australia. We also manufacture for multiple consumer brands. This job is for buying all the material for those brands.

What you will do

- Check the production plan and work out what material is needed, how much, and by when
- Find vendors, take quotes, compare rates, and negotiate price, MOQ, delivery time and payment terms
- Make the PO and send it to the vendor
- Follow up daily on pending material. Call the vendor, know where the goods are, and tell us early if something will be late
- Check the material when it comes in. Match it with the sample and the PO. Do the GRN. Send back or claim what is not okay
- Issue material to the shop floor as per the plan. Keep the store clean, keep stock correct, control wastage
- Keep looking for new vendors all the time. Visit markets, meet suppliers, go to trade fairs.



Every quarter we want to see current vendors added, not the same old list
- Maintain rate history, vendor list and a simple report on pending POs, delays and cost savings

Who we want

- 2–6 years of purchase experience in a factory — bags, garments, textiles, packaging or any consumer goods
- Knows fabric, trims, hardware and packaging material, or can learn fast
- Good at bargaining. Knows how to check if a rate is fair
- Comfortable working on the floor and in the store, not only sitting at a desk
- Can work on Excel and an ERP/inventory system
- Import experience (China buying, customs papers, landed cost) is a plus, not must
- Someone who does not accept "we always buy from this party" as an answer
