Find out more on our website: dsg-usa.com The Role The Purchasing Lead is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, supplies, and services needed to support manufacturing operations while maintaining appropriate inventory levels. This role works closely with Production, Inventory Control, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and suppliers to ensure materials are available when needed, at the right cost and quality.

The Purchasing Lead oversees day-to-day purchasing activities, monitors supplier performance, manages purchase orders, and proactively addresses shortages, late deliveries, pricing issues, and other supply-chain risks. The position requires robust organizational, analytical, negotiation, and supplier-management skills, along with an understanding of inventory and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Purchase raw materials, components, packaging, supplies, and other items required for manufacturing and inventory operations.
- Review inventory levels, production requirements, forecasts, and reorder points to determine purchasing needs.
- Create, issue, track, and maintain purchase orders from placement through delivery.




- Expedite critical materials and resolve shortages or delivery issues that could impact production or sales orders delivery.
- Communicate regularly with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, delivery schedules, and quality.
- Coordinate with Production and Planning teams to ensure purchasing activities align with manufacturing schedules.
- Partner with Quality and Engineering teams when supplier or material issues arise.
- Provide guidance and support to other purchasing personnel and serve as a primary point of contact for purchasing-related issues.

Qualifications

- Experience in purchasing, procurement, materials management, inventory control, or supply-chain operations within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing purchasing, inventory management, material requirements, and supplier management.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and purchase-order management.
- Strong Excel and data-analysis skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and urgent material requirements.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively across Production, Planning, Inventory, Engineering, Quality, and Finance departments.
- Demonstrated ability to build productive supplier relationships while maintaining accountability for cost, quality, and delivery.

Key Measures of Success Success in this position is measured by material availability, on-time supplier delivery, inventory accuracy, inventory levels, purchase-price performance, supplier quality, shortage reduction, and the ability to keep manufacturing operations supplied without unnecessary excess inventory.
