We are looking for an experienced and strategic Account Director – Corporate & Government/PSU to lead high-value client mandates across the corporate, government and public sector ecosystem.

This is a senior client-facing leadership role for a communications professional who understands the nuances of corporate reputation, government communications, public affairs, media relations, stakeholder engagement and crisis management and can operate confidently with CXOs, senior government officials, institutional stakeholders and senior media.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Client Leadership

- Serve as the senior strategic advisor and primary relationship owner for key corporate, government and PSU accounts.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with CXOs, CEOs, CMDs, senior government officials, bureaucrats, corporate affairs teams and other key stakeholders.
- Understand clients' business, regulatory, policy and reputational priorities and translate them into effective communication strategies.
- Lead the development of annual, quarterly and campaign-specific communication strategies aligned with client objectives.
- Anticipate reputational risks and proactively advise clients on communication opportunities and challenges.

Corporate Communications & Reputation Management

- Develop and oversee integrated corporate communication programmes covering:
- Corporate reputation
- Leadership profiling
- Thought leadership
- Media relations
- Issues and crisis management
- Stakeholder engagement
- Corporate positioning
- Policy and regulatory communication
- Employer and internal communications
- Develop compelling corporate narratives, key messages, communication frameworks and positioning strategies.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen the visibility and reputation of organisations and their leadership.

Government & PSU Communications

- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the government and PSU ecosystem, including ministries, departments, regulatory bodies, public institutions and government stakeholders.
- Develop communication strategies suited to the unique requirements of government and public-sector organisations.
- Advise clients on stakeholder mapping,



government relations, policy communication and reputation management.
- Understand the sensitivity, protocols and communication requirements involved in handling government and PSU mandates.
- Build meaningful relationships with relevant institutional, policy, business and media stakeholders.

Media Relations

- Build and maintain robust relationships with senior editors, bureau chiefs, business journalists, political reporters and sector-specific media.
- Lead high-level media engagement, including interviews, exclusive interactions, press conferences, roundtables and leadership profiling opportunities.
- Develop proactive media strategies and identify newsworthy opportunities for clients.
- Provide strategic counsel during sensitive or high-pressure media situations.
- Ensure strong quality and relevance of media outcomes rather than focusing only on volume.

Crisis & Issues Management

- Lead communication strategy during reputational, regulatory, operational or media crises.
- Develop crisis preparedness frameworks, holding statements, FAQs, messaging documents and response strategies.
- Advise senior client leadership on communication risks, stakeholder expectations and media response.
- Monitor emerging issues and provide timely counsel to prevent escalation.

Team Leadership

- Lead, mentor and develop account teams comprising Account Managers, Account Executives and other communication professionals.
- Set clear objectives, priorities and quality standards for the team.
- Review and approve strategic plans, media pitches, press releases, presentations, reports and other client deliverables.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on strategic thinking, ownership, quality and client satisfaction.
- Identify capability gaps and support team members through coaching and mentoring.

Business Development & Account Growth

- Identify opportunities for organic growth, cross-selling and expansion of existing mandates.
- Actively contribute to new business development, pitches and presentations.
- Develop compelling proposals,



credentials and communication solutions for prospective clients.
- Build and maintain a strong professional network across corporate, government, PSU, media and industry ecosystems.
- Support the leadership team in converting strategic opportunities into long-term client relationships.

Commercial & Operational Management

- Own account budgets, revenue targets, resource planning and profitability for assigned accounts.
- Ensure effective utilisation of team resources and timely delivery of client mandates.
- Monitor account performance, billing and commercial requirements.
- Maintain high standards of governance, reporting and operational discipline.

What We Are Looking For

- 10–14 years of experience in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Strategic Communications or a related field.
- Strong experience in a PR agency / communications consultancy environment is preferred.
- Proven experience handling large corporate, government and/or PSU accounts.
- Strong understanding of corporate reputation, media relations, crisis communication and stakeholder management.
- Existing relationships with senior business, corporate, government and/or political media will be an advantage.
- Ability to independently lead senior client relationships and provide strategic counsel.
- Strong understanding of the Indian corporate and government communications landscape.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Commercially astute with the ability to identify business opportunities and drive account growth.
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority mandates in a fast-paced agency environment.
- Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or a related discipline.

You should be comfortable operating at the intersection of business, government, media and public perception, with the maturity to handle sensitive mandates and the commercial mindset to contribute to the growth of the business.
