Production Manager Planning & Operations
Location: Greater Noida (kasna), Uttar Pradesh

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and highly responsible Production Manager Planning & Operations who will take overall ownership of our production operations, from production planning and inventory management to quality coordination, interdepartmental coordination, and final dispatch.
The person will work at a senior level and will be responsible for overseeing the Production Supervisor, Quality In-charge, and other production-related functions.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can see the complete production cycle, identify bottlenecks, coordinate between departments, ensure production targets are achieved, maintain inventory accuracy, and ensure finished products are properly checked and dispatched on time.
The ideal candidate should have strong planning, coordination, leadership, problem-solving, and operational management skills.
Key Responsibilities
1. Overall Production Management
- Take complete ownership of day-to-day production operations.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor the complete production process from raw material availability to finished product dispatch.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within the required timelines.
- Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of orders.
- Identify production bottlenecks and take corrective action.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and other resources.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Production Supervisor and Quality In-charge.
- Ensure smooth functioning of the entire production floor.
2. Production Planning & Control
- Prepare production plans based on orders, inventory, capacity, and delivery requirements.
- Allocate production priorities according to deadlines and business requirements.
- Monitor production progress against planned schedules.
- Track pending, ongoing, and completed production.
- Identify delays and immediately coordinate with the concerned departments to resolve them.
- Maintain production reports and daily production updates.
- Ensure that production is completed according to the required specifications and timelines.
3. Inventory Management
- Take overall responsibility for production-related inventory management.
- Monitor raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), semi-finished goods, and finished goods.
- Ensure proper recording and tracking of inventory movement.
- Coordinate with the purchase/store team regarding material availability.
- Identify shortages, excess inventory, slow-moving stock,
and material requirements.
- Ensure materials are available at the right time to prevent production delays.
- Conduct and monitor regular physical stock verification.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical and system inventory.
4. Interdepartmental Coordination Act as the central point of coordination between different departments involved in production.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Inventory/Store, Purchase, Dispatch, Atelier, and Management teams.
- Ensure information flows accurately between departments.
- Ensure production requirements are communicated clearly to the relevant teams.
- Follow up on pending activities and ensure timely closure.
- Identify communication gaps that may affect production or dispatch.
- Ensure that every department is aligned with production priorities and delivery timelines.
5. Quality Coordination
- Work closely with the Quality In-charge to ensure products meet the required quality standards.
- Ensure quality issues identified during production are communicated and resolved promptly.
- Monitor rework, rejection, and wastage levels.
- Identify recurring quality issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure defective or rejected products are not dispatched without proper approval.
6. Dispatch & Atelier Coordination
- Take responsibility for ensuring finished products are dispatched correctly and on time.
- Coordinate with the dispatch team for daily dispatch requirements.
- Ensure products are properly checked, packed, documented, and handed over for dispatch.
- Ensure the correct products are dispatched to the Atelier/store as per requirement.
- Coordinate with the Atelier regarding product requirements, availability, and dispatch schedules.
- Track dispatch status and ensure there are no unnecessary delays.
- Verify that dispatched quantities match production and order requirements.
7. Order & Delivery Management
- Monitor the status of all production orders.
- Track orders from production initiation through completion and dispatch.
- Prioritize urgent and time-sensitive orders.
- Ensure committed delivery timelines are achieved.
- Escalate potential delays to management proactively.
- Maintain proper records of pending and completed orders.
8. Team Management
- Manage and coordinate production supervisors and production staff.
- Set daily priorities and responsibilities for the production team.
- Monitor productivity and manpower utilization.
- Identify manpower requirements and communicate them to management/HR.
- Ensure discipline, attendance, and operational efficiency within the production team.
- Train and guide team members where required.
9. Process Improvement
- Identify inefficiencies, production bottlenecks, and unnecessary delays.
- Develop and implement systems to improve production efficiency.
- Reduce material wastage, rework, rejection, and unnecessary operational costs.
- Establish clear processes for production planning, inventory movement, quality checks, and dispatch.
- Continuously improve coordination between departments.
10. Reporting & MIS Prepare and maintain regular reports covering:
- Daily production
- Production vs. planned targets
- Pending production
- Inventory status
- Raw material requirements
- WIP and finished goods
- Rejection and rework
- Dispatch status
- Order status
- Production delays and bottlenecks
- Manpower productivity
Provide regular updates and operational reports to management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Production Management, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of relevant experience in production, manufacturing, PPC, or operations management.
- Strong experience in production planning and control.
- Proven experience managing production teams and supervising multiple production functions.
- Robust knowledge of inventory management and material planning.
- Experience coordinating between multiple departments.
- Strong understanding of production workflows and dispatch processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong leadership and team-management skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and production reporting.
- Experience with ERP/MIS software is preferred.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
