Position Title: Manager / Senior Manager – Engineering Procurement Location: Mumbai (HO), with travel to manufacturing sites across India
Purpose : Responsible for end-to-end procurement of plant machinery and equipment (Capex) as well as recurring spares, consumables, and maintenance services (Opex) across the organization's plants, ensuring cost-effective, compliant, and timely sourcing that supports both new capacity build-out and ongoing plant operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering ; MBA/PGDM in Operations or Supply Chain Management preferred
- 10-15 years in procurement within a manufacturing setting, with demonstrated experience across both Capex (machinery/equipment) and Opex (spares, maintenance, consumables)
- Experience in a contract manufacturing (CMO) setup is an advantage
- Exposure to multiple manufacturing categories preferred but not mandatory
- Experience managing vendor qualification or audit processes for client/partner brands
- Exposure to international OEM sourcing and import procurement
Key Competencies:
- Strong commercial negotiation skills across both capital and recurring spend
- Working technical understanding of manufacturing/packaging machinery and its maintenance lifecycle
- Capex and Opex budgeting and financial planning skills
- Awareness of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to manufacturing equipment
- Proficiency in ERP/SAP procurement modules
- Strong analytical skills for cost-benefit and TCO analysis
- Stakeholder management across internal teams (engineering, maintenance, finance) and external vendors/clients
Job Responsibilities:
- Source, evaluate, and procure manufacturing and packaging machinery for new lines, capacity expansion, and client onboarding (Capex)
- Manage recurring procurement of spares, consumables, and maintenance services required for machinery upkeep (Opex)
- Lead Capex and Opex budgeting and procurement planning aligned with production requirements and plant growth
- Negotiate pricing, warranty, AMC (annual maintenance contracts), and payment terms with domestic and international vendors across both equipment purchases and ongoing service/maintenance agreements
- Manage RFQ/RFP processes — technical and commercial evaluation in coordination with plant engineering and quality teams
- Ensure timely availability of critical spares to minimize machine downtime, while planning for major equipment upgrades
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements (industry certifications, BIS, customs/import regulations)
- Coordinate installation, validation, and commissioning timelines for new machinery with vendors and plant teams
- Support client audits and vendor/equipment qualification processes where required by partner brands
- Build and manage a diversified vendor base; track performance against SLAs and delivery commitments
- Drive cost optimization through value engineering and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis across both capital and recurring spend
- Coordinate with finance for budget approvals, tracking, and reporting on both Capex and Opex spend
- Stay updated on emerging machinery/automation technologies relevant to manufacturing efficiency.
