Interior Designer – Pre-Sales / Furniture Sales
Location: Alankaram Showroom, Bengaluru
Experience: 3–7 years
Employment Type: Full-time
About the Role
We are looking for an Interior Designer with strong client-facing skills to join the Pre-Sales team at our Bengaluru showroom.
This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys understanding spaces, interacting with clients, recommending furniture and material solutions, and converting design conversations into successful orders.
Unlike a conventional retail-sales role, this position requires a strong understanding of interior design, furniture proportions, materials, finishes, space planning and aesthetics. You will work closely with homeowners, architects and interior designers to help them select and customise furniture suited to their spaces.
The role offers an opportunity to combine design knowledge with commercial and client-management skills, with a clear career path towards Senior Pre-Sales Designer, Sales Manager, Showroom Manager, Zonal Sales Manager and Regional Sales Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend to clients visiting the Bengaluru showroom and understand their requirements, lifestyle, space, budget and aesthetic preferences.
- Recommend appropriate furniture, materials, finishes, fabrics, colours and configurations.
- Help clients visualise how furniture will work within their interiors in terms of scale, proportion, circulation and overall design language.
- Understand architectural drawings, floor plans, mood boards and interior-design presentations shared by clients or architects.
- Prepare furniture selections and preliminary proposals for complete rooms or residences.
- Coordinate with the internal design and technical teams for customisation, dimensions, materials, finishes and feasibility.
- Prepare and explain quotations clearly to clients.
- Follow up professionally with clients after showroom visits and quotations.
- Build long-term relationships rather than focusing only on immediate transactions.
- Coordinate with architects and interior designers who visit or refer clients to the showroom.
- Maintain complete and accurate client information, requirements, follow-ups and quotation status in the CRM.
- Participate in periodic reviews of open enquiries and quotations.
- Assist clients through the complete pre-sales journey until order confirmation and handover to the execution/back-office team.
- Keep yourself updated about Alankaram products, construction methods, solid woods, upholstery, finishes, hardware and customisation possibilities.
- Maintain a high standard of product presentation and client experience within the showroom.
- Support showroom events, architect interactions, product launches and design presentations whenever required.
