Company description
Forgis is building the intelligent layer for manufacturing plants, an orchestration platform that integrates machines across vendors, hardware types, and applications. On top of this, we bring real-time intelligence: digital engineers that learn from data, make decisions, and continuously optimize production, from configuring and validating lines to predicting failures and guiding operators. From one interface, Forgis turns disconnected automation into a unified, adaptive system: the factory's brain.
PLC Programming Engineer
As a PLC Programming Engineer at Forgis, you will own the control logic that our platform reasons about and acts through. You will operate at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and real-world industrial problems, architecting complete machine control software and bringing it up on real hardware. The code you write is what turns a Forgis decision into a machine that actually moves.
Responsibilities
• Developing: Build complex, production-grade PLC software for industrial machines and automation systems on Siemens, ABB, or equivalent platforms.
• Architecting: Design the complete control architecture, including machine sequences, state machines, motion control, I/O, interlocks, alarms, safety logic, and communication between machine components.
• Engineering: Write modular, structured, and maintainable PLC software with clear documentation, naming conventions, diagnostics, and reusable components that the next engineer can pick up without a phone call.
• Commissioning: Take PLC systems from design to working machines, testing and debugging control logic on real industrial hardware and validating reliable operation before handover.
• Advancing: Turn what you learn on the floor into insights for Forgis’ engineers, so the platform can generate, verify, and reason about control logic itself.
This role is ideal for you if
• Master’s degree:
In automation, electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field, from a top university (e.g. IIT, IISc, BITS Pilani, NIT, COEP Pune, VJTI, IIIT).
• Proven PLC engineering experience: You have developed complex industrial PLC projects for real machines using Siemens TIA Portal, ABB Automation Builder, Rockwell Studio 5000, or an equivalent platform.
• Complex system design: You can independently architect and implement large PLC applications involving sequencing, state machines, motion, I/O, alarms, interlocks, diagnostics, and machine coordination.
• Structured and documented code: You write modular, maintainable, well-documented PLC software following transparent engineering practices and standards, because you have inherited enough badly written projects to know why it matters.
• Verification and testing: You know how to systematically test and verify PLC applications, including simulation, test cases, diagnostics, and validation on real hardware.
• Real-world track record: You can demonstrate previous PLC projects through working machines, demos, technical documentation, or other concrete examples of systems you have built.
• Full-stack debugging: You debug confidently across software, networking, and machine layers, and you are comfortable owning a control system end to end on the plant floor.
• Remote and on-site commissioning: You are comfortable commissioning remotely against real hardware and travelling to customer plants in Europe when a line needs someone physically present.
• Language: Our working language is English, and all engineering documentation is produced in English. You are comfortable running technical reviews and customer calls in English.
