Planning Engineer - Transmission Line & Substation

Primary Package: Integrated Planning for 765kV Transmission Line, Substation & HVDC Packages
Job Purpose
Develop, integrate, and monitor project schedules for 765kV Transmission Line, Substation, and HVDC packages, providing early warning of schedule deviations, resource constraints, and milestone risks. The role requires strong expertise in Primavera P6 and planning of large-scale Power & Energy infrastructure projects.
Minimum Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in planning and scheduling of Power & Energy infrastructure projects.
- Strong proficiency in Primavera P6 and project scheduling tools.
- Experience in 765kV/EHV Transmission Line and Substation construction projects.
- Knowledge of Critical Path Analysis (CPA), Delay Analysis, Progress Measurement, Resource Planning, and Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Experience working on Transmission, Substation, HVDC, EPC, PMC, or Owner's Engineer projects preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Review contractor Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Level 1 to Level 4 schedules.
- Develop and maintain Integrated Master Schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
- Validate activity logic, durations, calendars, constraints, milestones,
and resource loading.
- Establish progress measurement methodologies aligned with project milestones and contractual requirements.
- Prepare planned vs actual S-curves, resource histograms, milestone trackers, and look-ahead schedules.
- Monitor critical and near-critical activities and identify schedule risks and delays.
- Review weekly, monthly, and three-month look-ahead schedules submitted by contractors.
- Verify reported project progress through site records and coordination with field teams.
- Analyze schedule slippages and recommend corrective actions, recovery plans, and acceleration strategies.
- Support Extension of Time (EOT) evaluations and schedule impact assessments.
- Track engineering, procurement, manufacturing, dispatch, delivery, installation, and commissioning activities.
- Integrate transmission line schedules with substation, telecom, control systems, bays, and energization interfaces.
- Maintain planning assumptions, constraints, risk registers, and delay trackers.
- Prepare management dashboards and schedule narratives for project reporting.
- Support milestone verification and schedule-linked invoice certification.
