Position Overview:
We invite applications for Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Senior Residents in Pharmacology.
The role involves teaching Pharmacology to MBBS students, conducting practical and experimental sessions, mentoring students, supporting academic and research activities, and contributing to the development of the department.
Candidates with strong academic credentials, teaching aptitude, knowledge of pharmacotherapeutics, and an interest in medical education and research are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct lectures and teaching sessions in Pharmacology and related areas for MBBS students.
- Teach the principles of pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacotherapeutics,
and rational use of medicines.
- Conduct practical classes, demonstrations, tutorials, and experimental teaching sessions.
- Provide students with practical understanding of drug actions, mechanisms, adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, and therapeutic applications.
- Teach pharmacology related to major therapeutic areas including cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, endocrine, central nervous system, antimicrobial, and chemotherapy drugs.
- Conduct demonstrations and practical exercises related to experimental and clinical pharmacology as applicable.
- Guide and mentor undergraduate medical students in theoretical and practical aspects of Pharmacology.
- Conduct tutorials, seminars, small-group discussions, case-based learning, and other academic activities.
- Participate in MBBS curriculum planning, academic schedules, and departmental teaching programs.
- Conduct internal assessments, practical examinations, viva-voce, and other academic evaluations as assigned.
- Develop and maintain teaching materials, practical resources, drug charts, models, and departmental academic records.
- Promote awareness of rational prescribing, essential medicines, pharmacovigilance, and safe medication practices.
- Participate in pharmacovigilance and adverse drug reaction monitoring activities as applicable.
- Collaborate with clinical departments for academic discussions involving drug therapy, prescription practices, drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions.
- Participate in departmental meetings, CME programs, workshops, conferences, and other academic activities.
- Participate in research projects, publications,
presentations, and academic collaborations.
- Encourage and guide students in research-oriented academic activities.
- Maintain appropriate student attendance, assessment records, laboratory records, and departmental documentation.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the Pharmacology Department and its teaching methodologies.
- Collaborate with pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical departments for integrated medical education.
- Ensure compliance with applicable NMC guidelines, university regulations, institutional policies, ethical requirements, and academic standards.
Eligibility:
Qualification:
- MBBS from a recognized medical institution.
- MD/DNB in Pharmacology from a recognized institution for faculty positions.
- Postgraduate qualification in Pharmacology for Senior Resident positions, as applicable.
Experience:
- Experience as per applicable NMC norms for Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor positions.
- Postgraduate candidates fulfilling the applicable eligibility criteria may be considered for Senior Resident positions.
Preferred Skills:
- Robust knowledge of Medical Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology.
- Good teaching, presentation, and communication skills.
- Experience in undergraduate medical teaching.
- Strong practical and experimental pharmacology teaching skills.
- Knowledge of pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacotherapeutics, and rational drug use.
- Understanding of pharmacovigilance, adverse drug reactions, and drug interactions.
- Knowledge of evidence-based medicine and safe prescribing practices will be an advantage.
- Good student mentoring and academic coordination skills.
- Interest in medical education, research, publications, and academic activities.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary medical education and healthcare environment.
