Job Summary
Sikshadaan International School is looking for a caring, energetic, creative and passionate Mother Teacher to join our Pre-Primary team. The Mother Teacher will be responsible for the overall academic, social, emotional, physical and behavioural development of young learners while creating a safe, joyful and nurturing classroom environment.
The ideal candidate should have a genuine passion for working with young children and be able to combine motherly care with modern, activity-based and experiential teaching methods.
Key Responsibilities1. Teaching & Learning
- Plan and conduct age-appropriate, engaging and activity-based lessons.
- Implement the school's curriculum and daily lesson plans effectively.
- Teach foundational concepts such as language, phonics, numeracy, environmental awareness, art, music and life skills.
- Use storytelling, rhymes, games, activities, crafts and hands-on learning to make learning enjoyable.
- Prepare worksheets, teaching-learning materials, classroom activities and learning resources.
- Encourage curiosity, creativity, communication and independent thinking.
1. Child Development & Care
- Provide a warm, caring and emotionally secure environment for every child.
- Understand and respond appropriately to individual children's needs.
- Support children's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
- Encourage good manners, hygiene, self-confidence, sharing and positive behaviour.
- Help children develop age-appropriate independence and life skills.
1. Classroom Management
- Maintain a secure, clean, organised and child-friendly classroom.
- Establish positive classroom routines and discipline through encouragement and positive reinforcement.
- Supervise children during classroom activities, playtime, breaks and dispersal.
- Maintain attractive learning corners, displays and student work.
- Ensure classroom resources and teaching materials are properly maintained.
1. Assessment & Documentation
- Observe and monitor each child's learning and developmental progress.
- Maintain attendance, assessment records, portfolios and other required documentation.
- Identify children who may require additional academic or developmental support.
- Provide regular feedback regarding children's progress and participation.
1. Parent Communication
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with parents.
- Communicate regularly regarding the child's academic progress, behaviour and overall development.
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings and other parent engagement activities.
- Address parent concerns professionally and coordinate with the school leadership when required.
1. School Activities
- Participate actively in assemblies, celebrations, competitions, field trips and special events.
- Organise age-appropriate activities, theme days and classroom celebrations.
- Support the school's admission, orientation and parent-engagement activities when required.
- Participate in staff meetings, workshops and professional development programmes.
1. Safety & Child Protection
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
- Follow school policies, child safeguarding procedures and professional standards.
- Immediately report any safety, behavioural or child-welfare concerns to the appropriate authority.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline preferred.
- NTT / ECCE / Montessori / D.El.Ed. / equivalent early-childhood qualification preferred.
- Prior experience as a Pre-Primary, Nursery, Kindergarten or Mother Teacher will be an advantage.
- Freshers with relevant qualifications and a strong interest in early childhood education may also apply.
