Position Overview:

We invite applications for Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, and Senior Residents in Microbiology.

The role involves teaching Microbiology to MBBS students, conducting practical and laboratory sessions, supporting diagnostic microbiology services, mentoring students, participating in academic activities, and contributing to research and departmental development.

Candidates with strong academic credentials, teaching aptitude, laboratory experience, and an interest in medical education and research are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct lectures and teaching sessions in Microbiology and related areas for MBBS students.
- Conduct practical classes, demonstrations, tutorials, and laboratory-based teaching.
- Teach students about bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, immunology,



microbial genetics, and applied medical microbiology.
- Conduct practical sessions covering clinical microbiology, specimen collection and processing, microscopy, culture and identification of microorganisms, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and infection control.
- Demonstrate and supervise appropriate microbiological laboratory techniques and use of laboratory equipment.
- Guide and mentor undergraduate medical students in theoretical and practical aspects of Microbiology.
- Conduct tutorials, seminars, small-group discussions, case-based learning, and other academic activities.
- Participate in MBBS curriculum planning, academic schedules, and departmental teaching programs.
- Conduct internal assessments, practical examinations, viva-voce, and other academic evaluations as assigned.
- Support and supervise diagnostic microbiology laboratory activities in coordination with clinical departments.
- Assist in the interpretation and reporting of relevant microbiological investigations as per institutional protocols and skilled responsibilities.
- Participate in infection prevention and control activities, antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, and hospital microbiology programs.
- Contribute to surveillance and monitoring of healthcare-associated infections in coordination with the concerned hospital teams.
- Support laboratory quality assurance, biosafety practices, and appropriate infection-control procedures.
- Develop and maintain teaching materials, laboratory resources, practical manuals, and departmental academic records.
- Participate in departmental meetings, CME programs, workshops, conferences, and other academic activities.
- Participate in research projects, publications, presentations, and academic collaborations.




- Encourage and guide students in research-oriented academic activities.
- Maintain appropriate student attendance, assessment records, laboratory records, and departmental documentation.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of the Microbiology Department and its teaching methodologies.
- Collaborate with pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical departments for integrated medical education.
- Work with hospital departments on infection control, antimicrobial resistance, laboratory services, and patient-safety initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable NMC guidelines, university regulations, institutional policies, laboratory standards, biosafety requirements, and infection-control protocols.

Eligibility:

Qualification:

- MBBS/Msc/Phd from a recognized medical institution.
- MD/Msc/Phd in Microbiology from a recognized institution for faculty positions.
- Postgraduate qualification in Microbiology for Senior Resident positions, as applicable.

Experience:

- Experience as per applicable NMC norms for Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor positions.
- Postgraduate candidates fulfilling the applicable eligibility criteria may be considered for Senior Resident positions.

Preferred Skills:

- Strong knowledge of Medical Microbiology and Diagnostic Microbiology.
- Good teaching, presentation, and communication skills.
- Experience in undergraduate medical teaching.
- Strong practical and laboratory-based teaching skills.
- Knowledge of bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, immunology, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Familiarity with infection prevention and control practices.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality assurance and biosafety procedures.
- Understanding of antimicrobial resistance and infection-control practices will be an advantage.
- Good student mentoring and academic coordination skills.
- Interest in medical education, research, publications, and academic activities.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary medical education and healthcare environment.
