: Mechanical Design Engineer - Power Electronics (Thermal Simulation)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on thermal simulation to join our dynamic team in the power electronics domain. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in mechanical engineering, thermal management, and experience with simulation tools to optimize the thermal performance of power electronics systems. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to design, analyze, and validate thermal solutions for advanced power electronics products.
Responsibilities:
Thermal Design and Analysis:
- Perform thermal simulations to predict temperature distribution and heat flow in power electronics components.
- Develop and optimize thermal management solutions, including heat sinks, thermal interfaces, and cooling systems.
- Utilize simulation tools (such as ANSYS, COMSOL, Icepack, etc.) to conduct detailed thermal analysis.
- Validate simulation results through physical testing and experiments.
Mechanical Design:
- Design mechanical components and assemblies for power electronics systems.
- Create 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
- Ensure mechanical designs meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company specifications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with electrical engineers, PCB designers, and manufacturing teams to integrate thermal solutions into product designs.
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on thermal and mechanical aspects.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to select appropriate materials and components for thermal management.
Project Management:
- Manage thermal design projects from concept to production.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including design reports, test plans, and validation reports.
- Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in thermal management technologies and simulation tools.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve thermal performance and reliability.
- Contribute to the development of internal guidelines and standards for thermal design.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in thermal design and simulation, preferably in the power electronics industry.
- Proficiency in thermal simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, Icepak).
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
Skills:
- Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, thermal dynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Preferred:
- Experience with power electronics packaging and cooling technologies.
- Knowledge of material science related to thermal properties.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for thermal management
