Role & responsibilities

- Design and iterate the 3D mechanical enclosure and overall collar assembly

- Develop rugged enclosures for electronics, batteries, antennas, sensors, and other components

- Design for waterproofing, impact resistance, dust protection, animal safety, and long-term outdoor use

- Optimize weight distribution, mounting, ergonomics, and durability for use on cattle

- Create production-ready CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings

- Design sealing systems, gaskets, fasteners, cable routing, mounting features, and mechanical interfaces

- Prototype designs using 3D printing and other rapid-prototyping methods

- Evaluate materials such as ABS, PC, nylon, TPU, silicone, stainless steel, and other suitable materials

- Perform mechanical design reviews and identify potential failure points

- Design with DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) principles





- Work with suppliers and manufacturers to transition prototypes toward scalable production

- Support enclosure testing including impact, environmental, water-ingress, and field testing

Preferred candidate profile

- Experience with mechanical or product design for physical hardware

- Robust proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Creo, Onshape, Inventor, or similar

- Experience designing plastic and/or metal enclosures and assemblies

- Understanding of tolerances, fasteners, sealing, materials, and manufacturing processes

- Experience taking products from concept prototype manufacturable design

- Hands-on experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping

- Ability to independently iterate on designs and solve practical mechanical problems
