Moradabad
Every year, more than 1,500 new home décor products move from a buyer's brief or a physical sample into full production at our factory. Someone has to turn each one into a drawing that production can actually build from. That is this job.
Designco India | Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh | Full-time, On-site Department: Business Solutions | Reporting to: Head of Business Solutions | Experience: 2–3 years | Education: B.Tech / B.E. (Mechanical) | Salary band: ₹4.8-7.5 LPA
About DesignCo
Designco India is one of the country's fastest-growing home décor and handicrafts export companies. We manufacture in metal, wood, glass and stone for leading global retailers and design brands, with everything made to order. Sheet metal, wire, aluminium casting, plating, powder coating, finishing and wood shops all run under one roof in Moradabad, backed by strong infrastructure and continuous investment in machinery and people.
Why this role exists
Products here begin as a buyer's concept, a reference image, or a physical sample in your hand. Before production can touch it, someone must convert it into a proper engineering design: 3D model, 2D manufacturing drawings, dimensions, tolerances, materials, gauges and finishes fully defined. Today, too much of that definition happens informally. We are making the drawing the single source of truth for every product, and we need a design engineer to own that work.
What will you do
- Convert buyer briefs, reference images and physical samples into 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
- Reverse-engineer physical samples: measure, model, and produce a complete drawing set.
- Define dimensions, tolerances, materials, sheet gauges and finishes clearly enough that production never has to guess.
- Work with Process, Production, Tool Room and Quality to check manufacturability, and revise designs based on trial feedback.
- Maintain drawing revisions properly,
so the shop floor always builds from the current version.
- Build reusable component and part-family libraries over time, so common elements are not redesigned from zero for every new product.
What we need
- B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with 2–3 years of experience in mechanical design.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on 3D modelling: SolidWorks, NX, AutoCAD or similar. CorelDRAW exposure is useful for artwork-related drawings but is not a substitute for 3D CAD.
- Good knowledge of engineering drawings and GD&T;, and the judgement to decide which dimensions need tight tolerance and which can stay open.
- Sound understanding of sheet metal and fabrication processes: bending, forming, welding, and what each one does to your design.
- Comfort with a vernier caliper in hand. Measuring physical samples on the shop floor is part of the week, not an exception.
- Ability to explain a drawing to people who build from it.
Why you should consider this
- Breadth. In most companies at 2–3 years, you detail one assembly family under three layers of senior designers. Here you will design across candle holders, planters, furniture and lighting, in sheet metal, casting, wood and stone.
- Ownership. The drawing you release is the master document production builds from. Your name is on it.
- Speed. Sample to shipped product in weeks, on the same campus. You will watch your drawings become physical products continuously.
- Growth. We are building out the engineering function. Design engineers who deliver here will grow with that build-out, not wait for someone above them to retire.
Location
This is a full time, on-site role based in Moradabad. Please apply only if you are based in Moradabad or willing to relocate.
How to apply
- Apply through LinkedIn with your CV. Mention one component you designed that went into actual production, and one thing you would improve about its drawing today. If you have a portfolio link (GrabCAD, Behance or a drive folder), include it — we will look at it before we look at the CV.
