Role Overview
We are looking for a highly driven, structured, and business-oriented Marketing Lead to take ownership of our marketing function across a portfolio of approximately 15–20 clients .
This is a leadership role for someone who can think strategically, lead teams, manage client relationships, build scalable systems, maintain high standards of quality, and ensure that the entire marketing operation runs smoothly.
The Marketing Lead will work with Project Leads, Marketing Associates, Interns, Graphic Designers, Video Editors, SEO Specialists, and other marketing specialists who operationalize the strategy and execute the work.
The role is not about personally managing every task . It is about setting direction, creating systems, establishing accountability, maintaining quality, removing bottlenecks, and ensuring the right work gets done to the right standard and on time.
What You Will Own1. Overall Marketing Function
Take end-to-end ownership of the marketing function across the client portfolio.
Responsibilities include
- Ensure all client accounts have clear strategies, priorities, deliverables, timelines, and owners.
- Maintain visibility across all client accounts and understand what is happening across each account.
- Ensure the marketing team is operating efficiently and consistently.
- Establish standards for quality, communication, accountability, and delivery.
- Identify gaps in people, processes, resources, and execution and take action to resolve them.
- Ensure marketing activities are aligned with client business objectives and measurable outcomes.
1. Client Strategy & Account Ownership
Own the strategic marketing direction for clients.
Responsibilities include
- Understand each client's business, audience, positioning, objectives, challenges, and growth opportunities.
- Translate business objectives into clear marketing strategies and execution plans.
- Maintain strong and professional relationships with key client stakeholders.
- Lead important client conversations around strategy, performance, priorities, challenges, and opportunities.
- Ensure clients receive proactive communication rather than having to chase the team for updates.
- Identify risks early and ensure they are resolved before they become client-facing problems.
- Continuously identify opportunities to increase client value, retention, and growth.
1. Leadership of Project & Client Leads
The Marketing Lead will work closely with Project Leads / Client Leads, who are responsible for project management, day-to-day client communication, coordination, and account execution.
The Marketing Lead will
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to Project / Client Leads.
- Establish clear responsibilities, priorities, timelines, and escalation processes.
- Review overall account health rather than micromanaging individual tasks.
- Ensure Project / Client Leads maintain accurate visibility of client deliverables, dependencies, and priorities.
- Hold leads accountable for deadlines, communication, quality, and client satisfaction.
- Step in when projects are blocked, off-track, or require senior-level intervention.
- Develop Project / Client Leads into increasingly independent account owners.
- Ensure routine decisions are handled at the appropriate level rather than unnecessarily escalated.
1. Team Leadership & Accountability
The Marketing Lead will oversee a multidisciplinary marketing team that may include:
- Project Leads / Client Leads
- Marketing Associates
- Marketing Interns
- Graphic Designers
- Video Editors
- SEO Specialists
- Content & Copywriting Resources
- Paid Media Specialists
- Other specialist resources as required
Responsibilities include:
- Establish clear expectations around ownership, quality, timelines, and communication.
- Ensure every important task has a clear owner and deadline.
- Review performance and identify where additional support, training, or accountability is required.
- Encourage team members to solve problems independently rather than waiting for instructions.
- Develop team members and create a stronger layer of independent leaders.
- Address performance or ownership gaps directly and professionally.
- Ensure team members understand not only what they are doing, but why they are doing it.
- Create a culture where commitments are taken seriously and unfinished work is not simply carried forward without accountability.
- Be firm but fair and comfortable having difficult conversations when quality, ownership, communication, or deadlines are not being met.
1. Marketing Quality & Quality Analysis
The candidate should have strong marketing judgment and be capable of reviewing work at both a strategic and execution level.
This includes
- Reviewing marketing strategies and identifying gaps.
- Reviewing content calendars for strategic relevance and consistency.
- Reviewing creative direction, messaging, copy, and campaign concepts.
- Assessing whether deliverables meet the required quality standard before reaching clients.
- Identifying inconsistencies, weak execution, missed opportunities, and strategic gaps.
- Ensuring different marketing functions are working toward the same objective.
- Establishing quality-control processes that reduce errors and rework.
- Providing transparent, constructive feedback to team members.
- Ensuring the team continuously improves the quality of its output.
The candidate should have the ability to look at a deliverable and determine not only whether it is complete, but whether it is good enough to achieve the intended business objective .
1. Systems & Process Ownership
One of the most important responsibilities of this role will be to build and continuously improve the systems through which Inclusive delivers marketing services.
The Marketing Lead will
- Design and implement scalable marketing workflows.
- Establish processes for strategy, content, creative production, approvals, reporting, SEO coordination, and account management.
- Create clear SOPs and documentation for recurring processes.
- Build systems that reduce dependency on individual employees.
- Ensure ClickUp accurately reflects the status, ownership, deadlines, and dependencies of client work.
- Identify repetitive or inefficient processes and improve or automate them where possible.
- Create dashboards and reporting mechanisms that provide leadership with visibility into the business.
- Continuously improve internal systems as the client base and team grow.
- Ensure processes are actually followed and do not simply exist as documentation.
The goal is to build a marketing operation that can scale without creating operational chaos .
1. CEO & Leadership Communication
The Marketing Lead will act as a key link between the CEO and the marketing/client delivery function. They will maintain a clear understanding of what is happening across the client portfolio and communicate:
- Client progress
- Client concerns
- Marketing performance
- Team performance
- Major deliverables
- Risks and bottlenecks
- Resource requirements
- Important client conversations
- Opportunities
- Escalations requiring leadership involvement
Communication with leadership should be clear, concise, proactive, and solution-oriented .
1. Client Growth, Upselling & Cross-Selling
The Marketing Lead will not only be responsible for retaining and growing existing client relationships, but also for identifying opportunities to increase the value of the client portfolio.
This includes
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing client accounts.
- Understand which additional services could create meaningful value for each client.
- Identify opportunities to introduce services being successfully delivered for one client to another relevant client.
- Work with Project / Client Leads to identify client needs that may require additional services.
- Support proposals, recommendations, and client conversations related to expanding account scope.
- Look for opportunities to increase client retention through stronger marketing outcomes and broader service relationships.
- Develop a strong understanding of Inclusive's capabilities and identify where they can solve additional client problems.
1. New Business & Inclusive Growth
As the marketing function becomes more mature, this role will also take increasing responsibility for growing Inclusive's client base.
Responsibilities may include
- Contribute to Inclusive's marketing and business development strategy.
- Identify target industries, markets, and client segments.
- Identify potential new business opportunities.
- Develop marketing initiatives that generate qualified leads.
- Support sales conversations and proposals where marketing expertise is required.
- Help create marketing assets, case studies, campaigns, and positioning that support new business.
- Identify patterns across existing clients that can be converted into new market opportunities.
- Help build systems for lead generation, nurturing, and conversion.
- Contribute to the overall growth of Inclusive's revenue and client portfolio.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of marketing experience , preferably in a marketing agency or multi-client workplace.
- Experience managing multiple clients, projects, or accounts simultaneously.
- Experience leading marketing teams and working with Project Leads, Account Managers, or similar roles.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, content, social media, SEO, paid marketing, creative production, and client strategy.
- Strong marketing judgment and quality-analysis capabilities.
- Experience building or improving marketing processes and systems.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
- Commercial mindset and interest in business development.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, multi-client agency environment.
- Strong ownership mentality with the ability to work independently.
