We are looking for law students who want to understand not only what the law is, but how legal work itself can be designed, tested and improved.
This role sits at the intersection of law, product and engineering. You will learn to break legal work into processes, design workflows, evaluate AI-generated legal work, identify failure modes and translate legal judgment into systems that engineers can actually build.
For someone interested in becoming a legal engineer, this is unusually hands-on experience. Instead of learning legal technology through courses or simulated exercises, you will work directly on live product problems alongside lawyers and engineers.
What You Will Do
- Study how lawyers perform research, drafting, review, due diligence, matter preparation and regulatory work, and convert those activities into structured workflows.
- Benchmark AI-generated legal work, identify legal and procedural errors,
design test cases and investigate why systems succeed or fail.
- Conduct legal research for product development and engineering.
- Help create templates, checklists, workflows and specialised legal processes for the Vyas marketplace.
- Work with disciplines such as software engineering, finance, medicine and operations to explore how their approaches to verification, decision-making and process control can improve legal work.
Marketplace products that generate revenue may carry separate creator compensation in addition to the internship stipend.
This role is best suited to law students who are curious about how law is actually practised, comfortable questioning existing processes and reliable about developing the skills of a legal engineer, not simply learning how to prompt an AI chatbot.
