Role Overview :

IIT Bombay’s Educational Outreach team is looking for an experienced Senior LMS Administrator to independently manage the configuration, administration, and day-to-day operations of its Moodle-based Learning Management System. The role will oversee platform administration, course and assessment management, integrations, reporting, testing, troubleshooting, and user support. The ideal candidate will bring robust hands-on Moodle expertise, technical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage a large-scale learning platform.

Key Responsibilities

LMS Administration & Course Management

- Administer Moodle, including users, courses, cohorts, enrolments, roles, permissions, and access.
- Configure courses, learning resources, SCORM packages, assessments, completion tracking, and course settings.
- Manage Moodle backups, archival, scheduled tasks, logs, and application-level processes.

Assessments, Reporting & Integrations

- Configure quizzes, assignments, question banks, grading, and gradebooks.




- Generate reports on learner participation, progress, assessments, and completion.
- Manage approved Moodle plugins and integrations with APIs, video platforms, virtual classrooms, proctoring, and certificate systems.

Platform Customisation & Releases

- Customise Moodle themes, dashboards, navigation, and course layouts using basic HTML/CSS.
- Test and validate configurations, plugins, integrations, and upgrades across Stage and Production.
- Maintain documentation, test results, issue logs, and release records.

Troubleshooting, Security & Continuity

- Troubleshoot LMS, access, enrolment, and assessment issues and coordinate infrastructure-related issues with technical teams.
- Support backup/restore and Disaster Recovery testing, VAPT, security remediation, and audit requirements.

Learner & Stakeholder Support

- Support learners, faculty, Teaching Assistants, and programme teams with LMS-related queries and orientation.
- Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to ensure reliable and responsive LMS operations.

Desired Experience/Skills :

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in LMS administration or educational technology, including at least 3 years of hands-on Moodle administration.
- Strong experience with Moodle 4.x, including installation, configuration, users, roles, courses, enrolments, assessments, gradebooks, and reporting.
- Experience with SCORM, Moodle plugins, REST APIs, integrations, backup/restore, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Ubuntu/Linux, Apache, PHP, PostgreSQL, and cron/scheduled tasks.
- Experience with Stage/Production environments and Disaster Recovery.
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Moodle Administrator certification/training and experience with Moodle 4.5 LTS, AWS, large-scale LMS implementations, accessibility, VAPT, or information security would be an advantage.
