Who we are:
Openhouse is building a one-stop destination for parents to engage and develop their children beyond school across sports, academics, extracurricular classes, camps, workshops and other enriching experiences. Our goal is to make learning engaging, hands-on and meaningful, rather than simply replicating school in a different setting.
About the role:
We are looking for an LxD Lead – Academics to define what an exceptional Openhouse academic experience looks like for children aged 5–15. You will own the curriculum, session design, learning tools and teacher enablement that turn academic concepts into experiences where children actively discover, question and apply what they learn.
This is a hands-on building role — you will spend significant time in classrooms, testing ideas with children and iterating based on what actually works.
Your responsibilities:
Build the Academic Curriculum
- Define scope, sequence and learning outcomes across ages 5–15.
- Build a progression that complements school curricula without becoming tuition.
- Design clear learning goals and ways to measure whether children have understood them.
Design Engaging Learning Experiences
- Design sessions that are interactive, experiential and age appropriate.
- Develop activities, games, provocations and real-world applications that make concepts click.
- Continuously test and improve sessions in real classrooms.
Build & Evaluate Learning Tools
- Identify and evaluate existing learning platforms, manipulatives, simulations and games.
- Decide what to license, adapt or build ourselves.
- Use AI tools to rapidly prototype recent learning experiences and games where relevant.
Enable Teachers
- Create facilitator guides, examples, observation rubrics and onboarding resources.
- Train and coach teachers to deliver the intended learning experience consistently.
- Observe classes and provide actionable feedback.
Measure & Improve
- Use learning checks, classroom observations, teacher feedback and parent feedback to assess impact.
- Use evidence to continuously improve curriculum, sessions and teacher support.
What we are looking for:
- 3–5 years of experience designing learning for children in edtech, schools, curriculum companies, publishing or similar environments.
- Strong understanding of instructional design and child learning.
- Deep subject understanding, particularly in Maths and/or Science.
- Someone with a portfolio or examples of curriculum, sessions, products, games or learning experiences they have built.
- Comfortable experimenting with AI tools to build and prototype.
- Strong teacher training and coaching skills.
- Most importantly, someone who would rather watch children learn in a classroom than perfect a document about learning.
Bonus
- Game design / gamification experience.
- Experience designing for mixed-ability classrooms and real-world constraints.
The practical bits:
- Where: Bangalore, on-site, hopping between centres more often than not.
- Engagement: Full-time, and full-hearted.
- Compensation: Benchmarked to experience, and we would rather talk about it early than dance around it.
- To apply: With a portfolio or a few work samples. If you have ever built something for children and stood in the room while they used it, start there that is the story we most want to hear.
Why Openhouse? This is an opportunity to reimagine academic learning outside school and build an experience that children genuinely enjoy. You will have the opportunity to design, test, break and rebuild the way children learn and see your work come alive in classrooms across Openhouse.
